We are down to three choices- Arthur, Elliot or Samuel.

Arthur I worry sounds too similar to saying “half a”
Elliot I worry is too similar sounding to the word idiot?
Samuel was never a favourite of mine but it’s grown on me. I’ve been calling him Sammy occasionally and think it’s cute and suits him but worry Samuel is too “boring”.

His brothers are called Oliver and Isaac. He has lovely ginger hair and delicate features. Teddy was another consideration but it doesn’t go so well with the other boys names.

Put Samuel on the birth certificate so he has the option, and just call him Sammy.

Amdone123 · 21/03/2021 20:31

Samuel is a lovely, classic name. I like Elliot, too. Dislike Arthur. I always hear that actress from On The Buses...Arfuuurrrrr!!!!

EileenGC · 21/03/2021 20:35

Samuel. I don’t think it’s boring, it’s classic but not overused. Congratulations 🥰

sarah13xx · 21/03/2021 20:39

I’m a teacher and have taught a child called Samuel before. We all called him Sammy but he goes by Sam now he’s older. Really nice name 😊 Elliot has always been one of my favourites but I think out of them I’d actually go for Arthur. Have you checked which ones are most common in your area? That is swaying my decision a lot when naming my little boy

HotPenguin · 21/03/2021 20:41

I think you over thinking re Elliot, that's the name I would go for. Arthur for me is a bit weak sounding and it would annoy me when people said "arfur". Samuel is a good name but it sounds like you don't like it asuch as the other two?

20viona · 21/03/2021 20:44

Elliot

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/03/2021 20:45

While all 3 are nice, Samuel is lovely and definitely works best with his brothers names imo - similar classic feel. Arthur is really popular/trendy currently and also has a similar ending to Oliver in sound, and Elliot is a bit less classic in feel/slightly surname imo. I think you are over thinking with the half a and idiot thing though!

Juancornetto · 21/03/2021 20:48

Samuel is a lovely name Smile

ODFOx · 21/03/2021 20:50

Samuel is perfect with your other boy's names. Or Edward would work well too. Don't use Teddy as a name, rather a nn for Edward. From your list Elliot is the only one which doesn't fit.

Drunkenmonkey · 21/03/2021 21:06

I like Samuel and Elliot, if it were me I would choose Samuel as I like Sammy.

looloo247 · 21/03/2021 21:12

I'd go with Samuel, nothing wrong with the other 2 but I'm biased as I have one. we have lots of compliments about it as a name. We call him Sammy all the time, although I'm sure he'll become a Sam as he gets a bit older

Flymetothestars · 21/03/2021 21:41

All lovely

Arthur or Samuel my top 2 but love all 3

waitingforsun · 21/03/2021 22:02

I like Samuel best, then Elliot. :)

user1493494961 · 21/03/2021 22:43

Samuel is lovely (not Sampson, that's awful). Elliot would also go well with his brothers.

Chilldonaldchill · 22/03/2021 09:32

Arthur is my favourite.

partyatthepalace · 22/03/2021 10:15

You are definitely at the overthinking stage! - they are all perfectly nice names and go with your other children’s (including Teddy)

I would go for Samuel - it’s lovely and it’s not overused right now

I love Arthur and Edward nn Teddy, but they have both been done to death, and I don’t personally like Elliot. Only thing I would say is if you do double back and go for Teddy do give him a full name (Edward, Edmund, Edwin, Edgar or Theodore) - as it is very much a nick name.

Worknoplay · 22/03/2021 10:19

They are all lovely names, Arthur is lovely and so is Samuel. I know a couple of Elliot and never heard anyone teasing them about idiot.

PandaFluff · 22/03/2021 16:06

Samuel

Alwayswrongneverright · 22/03/2021 16:32

I have a Samuel, and his middle name is isaac so it's a big yes from me!!! 😂

Twinkie01 · 22/03/2021 16:57

Love Elliot. They are few and far between whereas Sam/Samuel is v v common.

mummywithhermini · 22/03/2021 16:57

They are all lovey names. I think I would pick Elliot as a first choice , followed by Arthur as a second choice.
