Zeola or Zaola

Roseg990 · 20/03/2021 10:41

I came up with the name zeola or zaola from the name zola.
Opinions please!
Zeola pronunced zee-oh-lah
Zaola pronounced zay-oh-lah
Maybe with an h on the end so zeolah

What do you think?

Zola

Put your hard hat on OP, Mumsnet doesn't like made up names.

Of the two I prefer Zaola, but your kid will always have to repeat their name and spell it for everyone. I have an unusual name, and it really is a pain in the arse. Do you want that for your child? Would you like to be called Zaola?

Watchingthetelly · 20/03/2021 10:46

Second vote for sticking with Zola. The other two make me think of areola.

Spottybluepyjamas · 20/03/2021 10:47

Zola

littlemisslozza · 20/03/2021 10:48

How about Zoe?
Sorry, I don't particularly like either of those.

AuntieStella · 20/03/2021 10:49

In this order, and with these spellings:

Zola
Zayola
Zeölah or Zeolah

celestebellman · 20/03/2021 10:51

Don’t like the made up names and agree with the areola comment. Also reminds me a bit of Zoella.

Zola is nice, also Zora and Zoe

Fradishes · 20/03/2021 10:51

I like Zeola - esp if the accent on the first syllable ie ZEE-oh-la. But I like Ze-OH-la too.

TenThousandSpoons · 20/03/2021 10:52

No.

SoupDragon · 20/03/2021 10:52

Zola.

It looks far nicer than the ones you've made up plus it's easier to spell and easier to pronounce.

Mygardenisnotperfect · 20/03/2021 10:54

Zaola! Love this! What a beautiful name.

Mygardenisnotperfect · 20/03/2021 10:55

Came on here to say I’d never come across it before but as you’ve made it up that makes sense 😂

Fradishes · 20/03/2021 10:55

Marvin Gaye’s sister is called Zeola.

therocinante · 20/03/2021 10:56

I'd just go with Zola.

JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority · 20/03/2021 10:58

Bloody awful

This is a human being you're naming! Zaola??? Ffs!

WhattheCBGeebie · 20/03/2021 11:00

Neither, sorry

mammmamia · 20/03/2021 11:03

Zola, Zoe and Zorah are all much nicer sorry.

Thedogscollar · 20/03/2021 11:17

Sorry OP they make me think of cleaning products. I'd be thinking again.

PlanetPuddle · 20/03/2021 11:18

Your other thread says you want a name with a good nickname? Not sure what the nickname would be other than Zo.

Zeola is my favourite. If you google it there is information on it's use as a name. So it's not "made up". Just not very commonly used.

NameChangedForThisFeb21 · 20/03/2021 11:24

Zola is better than either.

Zeola looks like areola
Zaola looks like koala

Zelie (zay-lee) is an old French “real” name.
Zosia (zoz-ee-ah OR Z -oj-a dependant on preference) is another beautiful name.

There are also X names like Xanthe and Xevia which are unusual, not made up and pronounced with the Z sound.

Pieceofpurplesky · 20/03/2021 11:28

Zeola is a surname too.

averylongtimeago · 20/03/2021 11:32

If you like the Z sound, try Zilpha. It's a real, if rare name. You can pronounce it as Zilfa or Zilpa btw.

Zeola does make me think areola, so I guess I'd prefer Zaola, but I would have assumed it was pronounced Zow-la (Zow to rhyme with pow as in power).

I think Zola is nicer than both though.

cerealgamechanger · 20/03/2021 13:57

Areola
Crayola is what came to mind.
