Is Jane boring, and does it sound ok with sister Nina?

Boring yes. Sorry @eatsleepbreastfeedrepeatz Nina is such a lovely name and I don't think Jane compliments it very well.

Number3BigCupOfTea · 17/03/2021 21:03

No, it's beautiful. Like Anna or Emma or Beth, some people are going to say yes it's boring but I love it, its beautiful in its simplicity

Iwant2move · 17/03/2021 21:04

No.

Number3BigCupOfTea · 17/03/2021 21:04

I like Lara goes well with Nina

Straussful · 17/03/2021 21:05

Beautiful. And rare. I know only one and she is in her 20's.

user1493494961 · 17/03/2021 21:06

Yes, it is a bit.

Markies · 17/03/2021 21:07

Better than Wren or whatever awful name someone will come along and recommend.

Megan2018 · 17/03/2021 21:07

I don’t like it as a first name, it is a bit boring yes to my ears. It’s not dreadful but it’s not great. Nina is a pretty name but Jane always makes me think “Plain Jane”.

RevolvingPivot · 17/03/2021 21:08

Yes

JustanotherTuesday · 17/03/2021 21:08

My friend called Jane has always hated it and thinks it's boring, compared to her siblings names.
It doesn't go particularly well with Nina.

Usagi12 · 17/03/2021 21:09

Yes, sorry. Nina is much nicer than Jane.

WonkyCactus · 17/03/2021 21:09

It is a bit boring, but it goes very nicely with Nina.

TheBusiness · 17/03/2021 21:09

I think it’s due a comeback. I prefer it to flower or cute names.

idontlikealdi · 17/03/2021 21:09

I kind of like it but it will always have plain Jane connotations

FamilyOfAliens · 17/03/2021 21:10

I love the name Jane.

But then I think popular names are boring (Ava, Ellie, Lily etc).

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 17/03/2021 21:14

Sorry but yes

If you want brutal honesty, it will appear like you used your best girls name up on Nina & then couldn't think of another 'good' name

Jane is dated in a 'not due a comeback yet -if ever' kind of way.

I have a cousin Nina, her sister is Amanda, which I always thought was an odd combination too. A sister to Nina (IMO) needs a name that's not too plain, not too standard English name...

Woodlandbelle · 17/03/2021 21:14

I actually think it's beautiful goes with Nina.
But something like Grace or Eve could work well

Naoimi is one of my favourites.

optimistic40 · 17/03/2021 21:14

I think Jane will sound boring to older people, but interesting to younger ones. I don't know any young Janes. It's not an unattractive name.

AnyaMoondial · 17/03/2021 21:19

I think it is beautiful and elegant.

NameChangedForThisFeb21 · 17/03/2021 21:21

I know a school aged Jane with an older sister who has a beautiful name similar to Nina. She’s not happy with being a “plain Jane” especially when almost every girl at school has a much nicer sounding name and her sister has a lovely name. It seems very cruel and unfair from her perspective.

Sorry but I do think it’s boring. It also doesn’t go with Nina.

Gianna is the Italian for Jane and nice, as well as fitting with Nina.

MishaHarrow · 17/03/2021 21:21

Jane is boring imo.

If sister is called Nina (nice name), could I recommend Anna?

Dillybear · 17/03/2021 21:21

I think it’s a beautiful name. Surprised by some of the comments to be honest!

SylvanianFrenemies · 17/03/2021 21:22

Lovely, classic and really unusual (for a new baby).

Noodlesnoodlesnoodles · 17/03/2021 21:24

I think it is, I'm afraid, and I don't think it goes well with Nina. If you want classic, I think Alice or Lucy, or perhaps Josephine, are much nicer. Or nature names could work - Iris, Ivy, Lily, Rose etc.

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 17/03/2021 21:26

I think it's beautiful but agree it doesn't go very well with Nina.

Any other options?
