Rose. Only one way of saying it.
Dahlia can be Dah-lia or Day-lia.

LadyDanburysHat · 17/03/2021 10:41

Dahlia, Rose is boring.

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 17/03/2021 11:51

Rose

@KirstenBlest

Rose. Only one way of saying it. Dahlia can be Dah-lia or Day-lia.
This.

Rose is better.

KirstenBlest · 17/03/2021 13:08

And you'll get people stretching it to 3 syllables
Dahl-ee-ah and Daily-ah.

Rose might get Rosie, Rosemary etc

Oodilallygolly · 17/03/2021 19:21

Rose

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/03/2021 19:35

I adore the beautiful, very elegant Dahlia but pp are right - because it isn't used that often, the pronunciation will vary between "Day -lee- ah", "Dah- lee -ah", "Dayl -yuh", and "Dahl-yuh". Only you know whether this will annoy you (and potentially your DD).

Rose is the safe option - simple, classic, pretty, everyone knows how to say and spell it. Depends on whether you want a name that stands out (in good way imo) or blends in more?

partyatthepalace · 17/03/2021 19:42

Rose is lovely
Dahlia will be a pronunciation pain.

Delilah is nice though... or Diana?

Serin · 17/03/2021 20:25

Rose.

DahliaMacNamara · 17/03/2021 20:29

What can I tell you?

DinosaurDiana · 17/03/2021 20:30

Neither.

itsgettingwierd · 17/03/2021 20:35

I actually like

Dahlia Rose as a name.

Although you will have problems with prop Lucia toon as I don't know actual way and said

Dar-lee-a

EmmaC78 · 17/03/2021 20:37

Rose

Fireflies33 · 17/03/2021 20:44

Rose

Number3BigCupOfTea · 17/03/2021 20:46

Well, I nearly like Dahlia but I can imagine some accents saying daaaaaaaaaahlia and would drive me crazy.

But then Rose is a bit.... ho hum. Rosemary I like more. Romy for short. Rosie is nice too. Rose is so middle name.

What about Della? or Adele

Luckyelephant1 · 17/03/2021 23:05

I love Rose. Dahlia sounds a bit snotty and I can hear it in my head being pronounced in a very snooty accent, a bit like 'gap yahhh'

Cocogreen · 17/03/2021 23:07

Rose.
People will continually muck up the pronunciation of Dahlia and she’ll spend her life explaining it and spelling it.

MercyBodle · 17/03/2021 23:17

Rose.

SoupDragon · 23/03/2021 14:54

What happened to your idea of Avonlea?

Dahlia Avonlea.

maryautumn · 23/03/2021 21:26

@SoupDragon lol forget it

I clicked on this thinking it was a gardening thread. So, Rose.

Devlesko · 24/03/2021 21:14

But as a middle name for Elizabeth.
