Guess the Name

We are certain we’ve picked the name for our baby boy but want to keep it a secret from friends and family.

So the guessing game is on and they all want to know what it is and promised they won’t say anything bad or try to put us off it but we’re standing firm on keeping it quiet.

I’m thinking if they keep trying to guess I might give them a clue but wanted to try it out here first to see if it was easy to crack. I’m hoping it might be a head scratcher.

They’ve been told it’s not an unusual name as in they would have heard it but it’s not commonly used.

The clue would be ‘the name is in line with Neville’

So any guesses what the name could be?

Sounds like an odd set up. You're likely to get someone guessing the name, but in a negative way.

They'll say something like, "Oh, I know it can't be dowdy name like Nigel or Brian..."

You (knowing the name is actually Brian) will be cringing and wish you'd never invited guesses.

AdaColeman · 15/03/2021 17:17

Peter, Howard or Gary?

SakuraEdenSwan1 · 15/03/2021 17:19

Orville?

Granville?

JamMakingWannaBe · 15/03/2021 17:31

Just tell them you haven't decided on a name, have a couple in mind but are waiting until he arrives to name him. Guessing games are just silly and pointless.

HurryUpSunshine · 15/03/2021 17:49

elliemara · 15/03/2021 17:59

Ernest?

joystir59 · 15/03/2021 18:00

Breville

TempsPerdu · 15/03/2021 18:00

My first thought was also Ernest.

Chiliprepper · 15/03/2021 18:00

Percy? Richard?

MuddleMoo · 15/03/2021 18:12

Can you tell them a different name that you definitely won't use?

lucymagoo · 15/03/2021 18:12

I thought Neil too as those are the letters in line and neville

MuddleMoo · 15/03/2021 18:12

Or tell them to stop asking you as its getting annoying and will ruin the experience of announcing it for you?

ILoveShula · 15/03/2021 19:22

Philip? Gary?

I know a really nice Neville. Is it Nevin?

FawnDrench · 15/03/2021 19:53

Someone who played alongside GaryNeville at Man United?
So was "in line with" him - names like Phillip, Roy, Ole, Paul, Nicky, Eric, Dwight etc?

Santatizer · 15/03/2021 21:12

Cedric

Aquamarine1029 · 15/03/2021 21:15

Tell them they'll find out the name when the baby is born. These guessing games are ridiculous.

DaisyDaisyDay · 15/03/2021 21:21

Just tell them you've changed your mind on the name so you're having another think.

Why would you prolong the questions and the intrigue with a guessing game? What would you say if they guessed correctly?

All you're doing is swapping enquires for guessing. Can't see how that would make you better off.

Guessing game is really annoying especially if you have no plan to actual tell them.

WowserBowser · 15/03/2021 23:10

Lev?

Bimblybomeyelash · 15/03/2021 23:15

I know nothing about football, but that was my first thought, so a teammate of one of the nevilles? I don’t know who that would be though!

WowserBowser · 16/03/2021 17:44

I thought it was to take the letters from Line out of the name Neville. Which leaves vle! Hence Lev

Spied · 16/03/2021 17:46

Levi
