My late sister was called Ceridwen, known as Ceri. We didn't grow up in Wales so no one had heard of it, and there were some interesting pronunciations. I like Cadi, Sian and Elen from your list.

Zubla · 14/03/2021 17:21

Elen is lovely but my fav is Seren! Sorry

DacwMamYnDwad · 14/03/2021 17:25

Ceridwen - Welsh people will say Cridwen. Non-welsh will say all sorts. Serridwen will be one of them. A No from me, but it's a very old welsh name
Glesni - Gles. No
Briallen - impossible pronunciation in England. Bri Allen
Cadi - nice, prefer Catrin
Sian - Siân
Elen - nice

Nell96 · 14/03/2021 17:28

I like Elen from your list. My daughter is called Nia, a name which I still love. I also really like Eira and Eirlys, though pronunciation can be tricky in England and they don't sound as nice without the rolled 'R'. I also love Mabli, but it was a hard no from DH!

Nell96 · 14/03/2021 17:29

Also Tesni? Beautiful meaning.

NeverTrustaRabbit · 14/03/2021 17:34

Delyth.....I love that name. I don't care it's a granny name and not chic. Wish I'd stick to my guns and used it for DD.

If you like Braillen whatabout Eirlys, Ffion or Camri?

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 14/03/2021 18:00

Ceridwen was one of my favourites for a girl. Beautiful name.

Borgonzola · 14/03/2021 18:19

My grandpa wanted to call my mum Blodwen. She was quite glad they didn't go for it in the end. Grin

Cariad, Rhiannon, Seren are all nice

Yeval · 14/03/2021 18:26

I love Ceridwen. I also love that it's the name of a powerful Welsh sorceress. Badass.

partyatthepalace · 14/03/2021 18:53

I like quite like Elen from your list - but prefer Eleri

iFfion, Gwen/Gwendoline, Olwen, Myfanwy, Eirian, Rhiannon, Llinos, I think are great. Lowry, Carys, Catrin, Bronwen, Esyllt all nice too

DacwMamYnDwad · 14/03/2021 19:16

I've never heard of Camri - I doubt that it's welsh. Cam means bent or crooked
Lowri ends with an i not y.
Gwendoline is the anglicised form of Gwendolen.

Briallen will be misspelt, see a pp. Vowels often get transposed.

Delyth is fine. Definitely a 50-65 yr old's name, as is Carys, but nothing wrong with it.

isadoradancing · 14/03/2021 19:23

Manon is lovely

hennybeans · 14/03/2021 19:24

Melys ( honey/ sweet). I know one and she is lovely.

devildeepbluesea · 14/03/2021 19:25

Are you in Wales? If so no issue with pronunciation for any. I personally love Briallen and Glesni. I wanted Glesni for DD.

HermioneGrangersHair · 14/03/2021 19:28

Nia.
Seren.
Carys.
Ffion.

luppyloop · 14/03/2021 19:31

Gotthetshirt23 · 14/03/2021 19:32

EternalOptimist7 · 14/03/2021 19:32

England??

Pandapotato · 14/03/2021 19:39

Lovely names OP! I adore Briallen.

Also on my girls list are Olwen, Betsan, Cadi & Mabli.

cazinge · 14/03/2021 19:39

My choices for DD were Alys, Tesni or Teleri. DP liked Carys. We picked one of these.

Bethan is a good choice for ease of pronunciation.

WonkyCactus · 14/03/2021 19:44

I like Glesni best from your list, and Elen is nice too.
My favourite Welsh girls name is Lleucu. I also like Celyn.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 14/03/2021 19:49

Of your list I like Elen best, pretty with a nice nn in Nell and it's a straightforward pronunciation in most places outside Wales too. I also like Cadi, but I think some people may pronounce it wrongly as Kay- dee. Sian is also well known but feels slightly dated to me as I don't know any under 40. The others aren't really my taste either, sorry.

My fave Welsh girls names are Nia, Gwen, Seren, Anwen, Arianwen, Rhiannon, Morwenna, Menna, Eira, Eirwen, Eirian, Eirlys, Alys, Gwyneira and Aneira.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 14/03/2021 19:51

Oh, I forgot Tesni and Mai too.

CaffiSaliMali · 14/03/2021 20:36

I like Elen, Cadi and Glesni most.

I'm in England and considering Alys, Mari, Tesni and Eira. I am rather partial to Nansi, Nia and Elin too.

I would avoid the Welsh specific letters like Ll and Rh. I am avoiding my favourite Welsh girls name, Esyllt, for this reason.

You might like Mali, Mari, Tesni, Elin, Eleri/Teleri/Meleri based on your list?

NeverTrustaRabbit · 14/03/2021 20:46

Camri is a plant (following the Braillen/Primrose theme) and is camomile in Welsh (can be spelled Chamri as well).

Hence Eirlys (snowdrop) and Ffion (which can be used for foxglove).
