Surname starts and ends in an N, two syllable.
Will have two middle names Arthur Percy or Percy Arthur.

Louis
James
Noah
Thomas
Jack
Daniel
Luke
Arthur

Othe suggestions welcome.

Mostly good classic names I think OP. Personally I don’t like names that are pretentious (to my ear) or that enforce too much personality onto a child, these names would pretty much allow your child to be any sort of character without not “suiting” their name. My favourites on your list would be James or Luke.

They’re all fine except Noah. And I prefer John to Jack. Arthur is a bit trendy, on the way out.

partyatthepalace · 14/03/2021 13:18

Nice set of names - so this order is mostly about them being over popular

Luke - love it, not overused
Daniel / Thomas - not overused, classics
James - getting popular, a bit dull?
Arthur - love it but SO many of them
Noah and Louis - quite popular, bit wet IMO
Jack - too too many of them

Other thoughts - Lucas, Hugh, Rufus, Patrick, John, Rafe, Nathaniel, Francis, Giles, Marcus, Lucian - all classic, but not overused

Magicbabywaves · 14/03/2021 13:26

All perfectly reasonable names. Safe.

Thomas is my favourite.

Spied · 14/03/2021 13:27

I love Thomas and Luke.
Noah is ok.
Not keen on Arthur and it's also very popular.
Louis has the louie/lewis problem where I live.
I always think of Daniel and James as a bit 80s/90s, especially nns Dan and Jamie.

sarah13xx · 14/03/2021 13:35

I like Arthur, it would be on my list if I didn’t already know someone with the name. I’m a teacher and have had a lovely wee boy called Thomas in my class before but he’s the only one I can think of, it’s a nice name. Daniel is also nice too and not as common as it used to be I don’t think

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 14/03/2021 13:40

Love Thomas and Daniel.

Arthur is one of my least like names of all time as it sounds so dreary.

DramaAlpaca · 14/03/2021 14:24

All nice names apart from Noah, which is whiny.

PattyPan · 14/03/2021 14:27

Noah would be too many N’s, I think. Probably also the same issue for Daniel if it ends up shortened to Dan, it will run into the surname.
My favourite is James, second favourite Thomas.

GreenBalaclava · 14/03/2021 14:29

James and Luke are my favourites.

Twizbe · 14/03/2021 14:29

James all the way. I'm biased though as I have a James.

Kimye4eva · 14/03/2021 14:32

I wouldn’t go with James Arthur...

Cloud1220 · 14/03/2021 14:36

Are you aware of the Thomas the Tank Engine characters? If it were Thomas Percy or James Percy that’s all I’d be able to think of... but I have two boys and have pretty much every Thomas episode seared into my brain 😂

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 14/03/2021 15:20

I love James - probably the most timeless classic boys name in the UK and yet its less popular now than for a long time, so now is the time to use it when he may well be the only one in his class! Probably won't be shortened/nn but there are options if you wanted to - Jay/Jamie/Jimmy/Jem etc

My second choice would be Daniel (as long as you don't mind the nn's Dan/Danny), it's a nice sounding name that's underused. Having said that, I like Thomas and Jack too - classics like James and Daniel, they are just currently a bit popular for my taste.

KirstenBlest · 14/03/2021 16:44

Louis - ok
James - full name sounds a bit too Thomas the Tank Engine
Noah - not ok
Thomas - full name sounds a bit too Thomas the Tank Engine
Jack - ok
Daniel - ok
Luke - ok
Arthur - ok, but not keen

James or Thomas

Arrierttyclock · 14/03/2021 17:19

Arthur is the only name from tbis list that I like. I find the rest very boring and overused

35andThriving · 14/03/2021 17:41

I like your name choices. I also like Matthew and Joseph.

MercyBodle · 16/03/2021 03:10

I'd narrow the list down to Louis, James, Thomas and Jack. The only one that I really dislike though is Noah.
