Thoughts on Jasmine?

Beautiful nature name or a bit too 90s / Disney?

We have a baby Jasmine, no one even thought of Disney! Her mum has said we're not allowed to call her Jazzie though.

Hit send too soon there! It's a beautiful name

Floralnomad · 13/03/2021 22:26

My mum was called Jasmine , she was born in 1940 , I love it .

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/03/2021 22:27

Lovely name and I don't know any little Jasmine's. We considered it for a middle name

Elouera · 13/03/2021 22:27

I really like it.

Similar alternatives are Yasmin or Yasmina if Jasmine is too popular or Disney like.

gggrrrargh · 13/03/2021 22:31

My 4 year old is a Jasmine. She does call it ‘my princess’ when we play with dolls etc but that’s as much as the Disney reference goes, no one else has really mentioned it. She’s Jas/Jazz for short, biased but I think it’s a lovely name :)

OloBo · 13/03/2021 23:08

It’s a beautiful name. Unfortunately, I knew a couple of them who were complete cows growing up and it ruined it for me.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/03/2021 23:42

It is a bit Disney princess for me, sorry. I prefer the more elegant imo Jessamine (same name but an older/rarer version).

lottiegarbanzo · 13/03/2021 23:46

Lovely.

Hadn't thought of it having a Disney connection (is it the one from Aladdin?). That's not a princess that gets talked about much, I think.

IdblowJonSnow · 13/03/2021 23:46

I like it and also Yasmin too.

DramaAlpaca · 13/03/2021 23:49

Lovely name.

Anystarinthesky · 13/03/2021 23:50

Pretty name, I like it.

AlwaysLatte · 14/03/2021 00:10

It was one high on our list! (diminutive Jazz) Love it.

Nell96 · 14/03/2021 09:44

Thanks for your comments - more positive than I was expecting. I'm still not sure about the nature - I love the naturey vibe, but worry it might be too frilly... I'll keep pondering x

I really like it. Have come across a few through working in a school.

Jasmine flowers are gorgeous

daisypond · 14/03/2021 11:32

I like it

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 14/03/2021 11:47

I like it but think it’s dated.

SeanChailleach · 14/03/2021 12:20

It's a classic name. It's lovely. It couldn't date.

Dottybirds · 14/03/2021 12:21

Really beautiful! Love the flower and scent too

Dundustin · 14/03/2021 12:24

I think of it as a pretty flower name. Be prepared for her to be known as Jaz when she's older though.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 14/03/2021 12:31

I've never met one I didnt like.

Mybelle · 14/03/2021 12:37

I have a 5 year old Jasmine, she's the only Jasmine I know. The new Aladdin wasn't out when she was born so Disney wasn't as much of an issue. However she is over the moon that there is lots of stuff with her name on. I liked it because I like floral names and it went with her last name really well.

partyatthepalace · 14/03/2021 13:08

Lovely name, I know a few under 20 so popular-ish but not very I think.

If you think it’s too frilly you could try Laurel, Bay, Fern - or maybe Emerald? (Ivy, Iris and Rose are also lovely but super popular.)

I really like Fern too - it's also on my list 😊

For me, an over-used 90s name.
