Unusual girls or unisex names begginging with A??

We love (and have settled on) the name Aubrey if baby is a boy, and although I know Aubrey is a unisex name, I'm not as keen on it if she's a girl.

Thoughts on Addison?

Suggestions please ❤

Re: Addison - I'm not personally a fan of 'surname' type names and find something jarring about girls' names that end with 'son'

I love Alex for a girl.

I think there are very, very few truly unisex names. Alex is one of them.

I suppose you could get away with Arran for either sex.

Girls' name suggestions:
Adriana
Ariadne
Adelaide
Adelheid (the full name of Heidi from the famous book)
Alanna
Aster
Antonia
Aminatta
Anneliese

Adele is very nice.

Not at all keen on Addison, especially not for a girl.

So many beautiful suggestions so far.
Thank you!!! ❤
Please keep them coming.

dotdotdotdash - I'm not opposed to purely female names. 😁 Those are beautiful suggestions. I'm just open to unisex suggestions also. (I have a daughter already who has a typically male/unisex name. Although I think it sounds very feminine 😊)

Addison makes me think of Addisons Disease/crisis

Orphlids · 12/03/2021 21:53

I’m afraid I can only think of Addison’s disease. Some acquaintances have just named their baby girl Andi.

Ainsley or Ashley if you want gender non specific

Love Adrienne, not so kenn on Adrian though.

deethra · 12/03/2021 22:02

OK.. so Addison has now definitely been ruled out.

I kept going back to it for some reason, but it didn't give me the 'that's the one' feeling and I couldn't work out why.

Plus - I can finally clear it from my mind and move on!
Negative - I now have zero possible contenders for a girls name. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Some A names that I like: Anya, Annika, Aster/Asta, Alice, Athena, Audra, Alba

A few unisex options: Aspen, Afton, Arden

Not keen on Addison I’m afraid.

Great choice with Aubrey if it’s a boy - I have one!
Enidblyton1 · 12/03/2021 22:09

Love Aubrey! (for a boy only)
