Is Rory too similar as a sibling to big brother Finlay - ie. two syllables ending in the ay sound?

Nope, it's fine. Nice names.

Teakind · 11/03/2021 14:57

Both lovely names and I don’t think they are too similar.

I love Rory but my DH has ruled it out as it sounds a bit strange in his family’s accent.

ILoveStickers · 11/03/2021 15:06

They sound nice together, go for it. I love Rory.

sarah13xx · 11/03/2021 15:38

It sounds nice 😊 both would be on my list but they’re my dad and cats name!

Violetlavenders · 11/03/2021 15:53

They're fine together.

But please be aware that many people struggle to pronounce their Rs - it's a fairly common speech impairment. And Woh-wy doesn't sound so nice imo.

partyatthepalace · 11/03/2021 17:30

Nope, nice combo

intheshedyes · 11/03/2021 17:32

Really nice names!

I'd find them a bit cute together, but that's personal taste (and to be fair I'm not keen on boys names ending in a y/ie sound anyway apart from classic Henry). But I wouldn't be surprised to met a Rory and Finlay sibset as they are popular names.

WhatNowFrantic · 12/03/2021 19:13

I know brothers Rory and Finlay, although it's always Rory and Finn. Nice names, I like them.
Incase you have another, they have a sister called MatildaGrin

Acovic · 12/03/2021 19:31

I like the combo. Not too similar at all.

Unlike Nathan and Jonathan. Yes, dear friend, I think you are mad to have used those names for your sons.

Chunkymenrock · 12/03/2021 19:41

Personally I can't stand the name Rory. The awful roar sound! Finlay is lovely.

weegiemum · 12/03/2021 20:57

I know brothers Rory and Finn. Sounds fine together.

Luckyelephant1 · 13/03/2021 12:40

I think they go together really nicely, both lovely names.
