What do people think of the name Atticus?

It is on my list for DS2, I do like it but can't say I'm overly wowed by it as I'm worried it'll be the "Jayden"/ "Tracey" of it's time where it was fairly rare then exploded in popularity before fading again.

Dh loves it and isn't sold on some of my other name ideas which he thinks are a bit "too different"/ "just horrible".

I don't like it sorry :-( I don't think it will become a 'chav' name like Jayden/Tracey though.

I love it OP, think it’s great for a child and an adult, unusual but not too unusual and whilst growing in popular not sure it will become another Noah.

One word, Finch. Unless you are a professor of English it's a bit try hard. I don't think it will ever be a Tracey and never met a Jayden

I like it, but I don't think we could pull it off, family wise. It does have a private school ring to it, and private school we are not. However, if you like it, use it.
I work in a school and have cared for many children in various settings for years and have never disliked a name once I've known the child, they are just them. Makes a change from all the George's, Charlie's and Ronnie's I know.

No, I think it’s a bit much. I also agree with pp it is a little bit like your appreciation of literature stopped at the GCSE syllabus. I don’t think it will sound dated though, because it’s never been that popular and people will assume it was for the literary connection rather than because it was trendy at a certain time.

I don’t think people will think your appreciation of literature stopped with GCSE; that would be a lot of thinking about another person’s child’s name. Grin

I wasn't too worried about it being a "chav" name, more that it'll be a very obvious trend type name.

At DS1's baby group there's only one boy who doesn't have an "A" name so it does feel like a trend round here along with all the names ending in ie or y.

Like @Mysteriousmysteries we definitely aren't posh or private school types.

It's a name DH loves and I'd be willing to compromise on so thought asking here might sway me one way or the other.

I do wish we'd read To Kill a Mockingbird for our GSCEs though, we had to do Of Mice and Men (maybe Curley for the baby's name? Haha)

It’s been predicted to be the next big name for 10+ years, but it’s never taken off in that way and is still a niche name. I’ve never met another one. Chose a name you love and don’t overthink it.
