Atticus?

What do people think of the name Atticus?

It is on my list for DS2, I do like it but can't say I'm overly wowed by it as I'm worried it'll be the "Jayden"/ "Tracey" of it's time where it was fairly rare then exploded in popularity before fading again.

Dh loves it and isn't sold on some of my other name ideas which he thinks are a bit "too different"/ "just horrible".

I don't like it sorry :-( I don't think it will become a 'chav' name like Jayden/Tracey though.

TeenMinusTests · 10/03/2021 08:18

Middle name Finch?

babynamelover · 10/03/2021 08:26

I like it. I'm fond of boys names ending in s.
I don't think it's going to be popular.

Runkle · 10/03/2021 08:31

I don't like it sorry. Too try hard.

MingeOnFire · 10/03/2021 08:35

I don't like it either, sorry

TeenMinusTests · 10/03/2021 08:39

Names that are currently unusual but might also suit your DH:
Anthony
Adam
Alistair
Charles
Christopher
Crispin

Ellmau · 10/03/2021 08:39

I really don't think it's going to be that common. If you and dh both love it, go for it.

SirSamuelVimes · 10/03/2021 08:40

It just makes me think you've not read a book since GCSE English literature.

MazekeenSmith · 10/03/2021 08:42

Pretentious. I know one who is called 'Atty' for short which I think is horrible

PreciousOcean · 10/03/2021 08:42

Oh god, awful

howmanyhats · 10/03/2021 08:44

I love it!I know an Atticus and I think it's a great name.

Newfor2021 · 10/03/2021 08:46

I love it OP, think it’s great for a child and an adult, unusual but not too unusual and whilst growing in popular not sure it will become another Noah.

Newfor2021 · 10/03/2021 08:46

I’d say Ottis is fairly similar if you wanted something else to consider

Lostinthewilderness · 10/03/2021 08:47

Dislike it. Find it too try hard, sorry

Hoppinggreen · 10/03/2021 08:48

I know an Atticus but his parents are vair posh and not at all chavvy.

minniemoocher · 10/03/2021 08:49

One word, Finch. Unless you are a professor of English it's a bit try hard. I don't think it will ever be a Tracey and never met a Jayden

Mysteriousmysteries · 10/03/2021 08:51

I like it, but I don't think we could pull it off, family wise. It does have a private school ring to it, and private school we are not. However, if you like it, use it.
I work in a school and have cared for many children in various settings for years and have never disliked a name once I've known the child, they are just them. Makes a change from all the George's, Charlie's and Ronnie's I know.

PattyPan · 10/03/2021 09:10

No, I think it’s a bit much. I also agree with pp it is a little bit like your appreciation of literature stopped at the GCSE syllabus. I don’t think it will sound dated though, because it’s never been that popular and people will assume it was for the literary connection rather than because it was trendy at a certain time.

partyatthepalace · 10/03/2021 09:50

I quite like it, don’t think any danger it will become super popular.

I don’t think people will think your appreciation of literature stopped with GCSE; that would be a lot of thinking about another person’s child’s name. Grin

lynsey91 · 10/03/2021 09:59

Awful and definitely pretentious

Thedogscollar · 10/03/2021 10:36

No it's awful.

redcandlelight · 10/03/2021 10:38

to me is sounds like a toddler mis-pronounced cassius...

sorry, it's a no from me

Warrickdaviesasplates · 10/03/2021 10:40

I wasn't too worried about it being a "chav" name, more that it'll be a very obvious trend type name.

At DS1's baby group there's only one boy who doesn't have an "A" name so it does feel like a trend round here along with all the names ending in ie or y.

Like @Mysteriousmysteries we definitely aren't posh or private school types.

It's a name DH loves and I'd be willing to compromise on so thought asking here might sway me one way or the other.

I do wish we'd read To Kill a Mockingbird for our GSCEs though, we had to do Of Mice and Men (maybe Curley for the baby's name? Haha)

It’s been predicted to be the next big name for 10+ years, but it’s never taken off in that way and is still a niche name. I’ve never met another one. Chose a name you love and don’t overthink it.
