If you are undecided between two names..

Would you use both or save the one you dont use for a potential next child?

DH and I are fond of Henry but in the last few days I've also fallen in love with Ethan and he really likes it too. I think Ethan Henry is lovely, but what if we have another son and have used both our favourite boys names?

What do people think? Use or save

Use them both, you might not even have another son.

Both nice names OP but I'm not sure they sound good together as first name middle name or as brothers.

Middle names are very rarely used, so my instinct would be to save your second choice in case you have another. Having said that, I personally find Henry and Ethan quite different in style if that matters for siblings?

I'd use both, then just use Henry for a first name if you have a second son. That was our plan!

I’d go Ethan! Kate Middleton obviously liked George and Louis and ended up using Louis as a middle name for George. She then had another boy and used Louis so people definitely do it! Might slightly spoil it when you announce the second child’s name if people have already heard it with the first. Id just go with the one I really like. Think Ethan is lovely

Use both because you will go off the other one if you are pregnant again.

Use both, when we had DS2 we used names we hadn't even thought of when naming DS2.

We did with DD, partly because we were quite certain she would be our last so it didn’t matter. However, if I had another DD now, there’s another name I love & would go with.

I saved one. Luckily we had DS2 so got to use it.

I had this dilemma. I used both. If we have another then I would have no qualms about using the middle name as a first name for the second chikd. However, I think we've already found another name we'd love as a future first name so wouldn't be surprised if we changed our minds.
