Babies dad (BD) and his mum are hounding me to use Katherine for DD however DD name will not be Katherine.

I have agreed to Elizabeth for her middle name as BD wants it and it's important to him but it's where I draw the line (I also happen to like Elizabeth so that helps). Katherine Elizabeth feels very nod to the Royal family too and I'm not a royalist.

BD and I aren't together and for the first 5 or so months BD didn't want anything to do with me or the pregnancy and even grumbled when we found out we were having a girl so DD surname will be mine which is 3 syllable and English.

I'm big on nature names and names from mythology... maybe even names with a gothic touch and so far I really like:

Electra - not brave enough to use
Xanthe
Astra - not brave enough to use

But I'm not 100% on any atm.

I love nature natures and mythological ones (although I like Katherine and Elizabeth too, but yes together they are very traditional - although I wouldn't necessarily think Royal, especially with the Katherine spelling).

Of your list I like Xanthe, Calista, Iris, Athena, Ariadne and Sabrina.

Maybe also consider these (all mythological or nature related) - Eira, Thalia, Maia, Jessamine, Ianthe, Viola, Lara, Cassia, Gaia, Dahlia, Sylvie/Sylvia, Selene/Selena, Theia, Artemis.

I really like Ariadne, Iris, Violet, Xanthe and Calista from your list. I agree balancing the name with a traditional middle like Elizabeth would be lovely. Maybe Ione, Juno, Juniper, Fern, Scarlett or Hazel?

Phaedra isn't great either - she lied about being raped because her step son didn't fancy her.

Agree you have to be a bit brave for Electra, but I think Astra is very useable (though I spose it might make people think of the vaccine temporarily)

All of these go fine with Elizabeth, and you could Chuck in Raven as a third name,

Luna Elizabeth is lovely as well.

Violet Elizabeth is the spoilt brat in the Just William books (‘I’ll scream and scream until I’m sick! I can, you know!’)

You might not mind but it was the first association for me.

And Rhea is a bird and doesn’t have a nice sound to it.

I love your other names.

I really like Rhian as opposed to Rhea.
Astrid is nicer than Astra imo too.
