Brother for Rufus

We have a Rufus and are looking for similar names. Any ideas? DH not keen on single syllable names either. Thank you!

Rufus is Latin so it might be nice to use a name with similar roots like Felix, Leo, Maxim, August or Lucian (trying to think of similar Latin origin names that don't also end in -us, but aren't too weird!) .

Other origin names but with the same well known but slightly quirky appeal as Rufus to me would be Jasper, Elias, Owen, Tristan, Oscar, Sebastian, Xavier, Gabriel, Nathaniel.

I have a Rufus. Brother is Rory.

Felix.
Miles.
Ralphie.

Edmund or William? I like Tristan too as pp has mentioned.

I know William is prob frequently used compared to Rufus but think they sound good together.

We do like Oscar but a bit worried he’d be in a classroom full of them. I don’t know any but I think it’s really popular at the moment?

Maxim and Hugo are my favourite suggestions so far.

William is a lovely name and would go well and had never even thought of Edmund - thank you!

@Easterbunnygettingready my husband suggested Felix too but we often get told Rufus is a dogs name so I’d be worried we’d end up with a cat and dog name

If we'd had a third I think we'd have gone full wankersville and had a Rex ! To top off the twee, me & DH share an initial as do the dogs! (Rescued so not my fault! )

@SubParbanMum ah I hate when that happens to names! The Tristan I know is gorgeous so maybe that's where my affection for it comes from haha

We have a Rufus and Felix! No-one has ever called them cat and dog names (to my face at least)😆.

Other names we considered are Magnus and Barnabas.
