Hi,
We are currently due to have our 1st child in October. We've got some ideas for names but need some opinions. Our surname is Taylor.
Boy ideas: Edward (we might call him Ted for short)/George/Patrick (my Dad's name), James (but couldn't have it as a 1st name due to close family member with that name) but not sure what names go best or any other names would be better.

Girls: Sienna/ Orla/ Grace
I like Rose but feel it's very common now, struggling to think of other names and combinations.

Thanks in advance

I like all your names, but wouldn’t choose Orla because Orla Taylor just doesn’t sound right.

Patrick James Taylor
Edward Patrick Taylor
George Patrick Taylor
Patrick George Taylor
Edward James Taylor
I think you’ve got lots of potentially good combinations from those names. I really like Patrick, it’s quite underused but suits all age ranges.
Other names with a similar vibe:
Matthew
Daniel
Henry / Harry
Thomas
Benjamin

I really like Orla and Grace. Not so keen on Sienna.
Rosa?
Niamh?

Sienna Rose is lovely.

And I love Patrick James , Patch for short ❤️

KirstenBlest · 05/03/2021 20:01

Do you like Ted Taylor?

Sienna - not keen, Sienna Taylor is a bit rhymey with Jenny Taylor
Orla - I heal All a' like all a dither
Grace - overused and I hear Gray Staler

Patrick and Grace are my favourites from your lists. I don't really like Orla but like all your other choices.

Other ideas:
Anthony, Christian, Dominic, Elliot, Gabriel, Jeremy, Michael, Nathaniel, Oliver, Vincent, Zachary

Astrid, Bronte, Clarissa, Daphne, Effie, Felicity, Isabel, Katherine, Lydia, Miranda, Nola, Ottilie, Philippa, Rhiannon, Savannah, Verity, Xanthe

I’m due to have my second and I’ve been thinking of Rosa as a possibility.. xx

partyatthepalace · 05/03/2021 20:45

I think Patrick is great and very underused so I’d go for that, George and Edward nice but I’d avoid as so many of them. Patrick James works well (PJ!)
Other thoughts - Lawrence nn Laurie, Robert nn Robin, Lucas, Marcus, Thomas nn Tom, Alexander nn Alex, Samuel nn Sam, Daniel nn Dan, Matthew nn Matt, Nathaniel nn Nat/Nate, Christopher nn Kit or Christy, Benedict/Benjamin nn Ben... all go with James

Of your girl’s choices I think Rose goes best with Taylor, but agree very popular. Orla and Siena sound a bit harsh with Taylor (I think you need a softer sound), and Orla is also too rhymey. Grace I don’t personally like, but it’s popular and it goes.

Other thoughts - Sophie, Phoebe, Chloe, Florence, Eloise, Marianne, Charlotte, Lois, Jasmine, Genevieve, Margot, Juno, Robin,

Like Orla but it REALLY doesn't go with Taylor. Not keen on your others - pretty dull! I think, avoid names ending in 'a' or 't'
