Tadhg?

Hi I’m expecting DS in June and have basically decided upon Tadhg. However I have a DD called Aoife and when I googled the names together it seems a singer from the saturdays has children with these names. Is this an issue or is it just pregnancy hormones making me crazy?

Not an issue at all. Firstly, very few people will know this. Secondly, Una and her children seem like perfectly lovely people so its not a bad connotation to have even if some do pick up on it.

Aoife and Tadhg are classic Irish names so i dare say neither Una or yourself will be the first parents with this sibset combination. If you said your child was North and you were going for Saint, or some other obscure celeb sibset combo, people might have some thing to say about it.

Brilliant! Yes I’m sure there’s many other Aoife and Tadhg siblings out there, and I’d never heard of Una before googling the 2 names together, so hopefully not too many others will either. Thank you :)

I actually know a Aoife and Tadhg sibset but i would not have know about the Saturdays singers kids. I think they work really well together in the UK as well known recognisable Irish names.

welshweasel · 02/03/2021 15:28

Not remotely an issue. Both lovely names and not so uncommon that you would look like you copied. And as someone already said, they seem like nice people so does it matter?

I also know an Aoife and a Tadhg, not an unusual pairing at all in Ireland. Although the ones I know are adults.
I think they are both lovely names.

Jupitersmoon842 · 02/03/2021 15:52

I had no idea someone from the Saturdays had children with these names. I’m sure most people wouldn’t know that either :). I think they’re lovely names too!

aloeha · 02/03/2021 16:49

I’m glad it’s just me being overly worried😂. Thank you for the comments on the names too :). What does everyone think as Cosmin for a middle name? DD is Aoife Mabli.

How is this pronounced? Tag?

aloeha · 02/03/2021 16:51

It’s pronounced like the start of Tiger, just without their er

I think it's fine, I've heard of Una and the Saturdays but I'd have no idea what her kids are called. Only thing I'd mention is that some people outside Ireland/N. Ireland may not know how to pronounce/spell Tadhg, if that matters (where as Aoife is more familiar to most people). I haven't heard of Cosmin (only similar Cosmo) but I like it.

ILoveStickers · 02/03/2021 19:27

Love it, and that's not an issue at all

aloeha · 02/03/2021 20:55

I’m not too bothered about not being able to spell/pronounce, I have a very common name and have had multiple wrong spellings of it. Some people don’t know how to pronounce Aoife when they first hear it but after I’ve told them once or twice it’s fine😊.

Una is beautiful and amazing and even if people did connect it to her family it would be nothing but a compliment.

RAOK · 03/03/2021 03:36

Both beautiful names.

villainousbroodmare · 03/03/2021 03:56

Lovely choices

mathanxiety · 03/03/2021 04:49

Lovely, and both middle names are too.

aloeha · 03/03/2021 07:07

Thank you everyone😊.

I knew that Una from the Saturdays had an Aoife and a Tadhg. I don't think I would have made the connection though if you hadn't pointed it out. I also think most people won't be aware but if they are it's not a bad association.

Aoife and Tadhg are lovely names and go well together.
