I have a colleague with this name so I associate it with a very beautiful young vivacious hard working woman. But it is mispronounced almost all the time. I don't think she particularly minds but it must get annoying.

Usernameornousername · 01/03/2021 15:45

@Iamblossom How do they usually mispronounce it?

My daughter's friend is called this. Beautiful name. She pronounces it Nay ha

SoupDragon · 01/03/2021 16:57

One of DS's classmates was a Neha, pronounced Nay hah or Nay ha... it was a good while ago now and I can't remember

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 01/03/2021 20:15

Lovely name - I would instinctively pronounce it Ney -hah, but you might occasionally get Nee -hah if that matters.

partyatthepalace · 01/03/2021 20:50

How do you say it - Knee-hah?

Zofloratheexplorer · 01/03/2021 20:55

Neha is beautiful.

Mavedrai · 01/03/2021 22:21

It's not to my taste -- it's okay but a little nasally. I think there are much prettier names out there. Nidhi, for example.

CakesOfVersailles · 02/03/2021 11:46

I know a few women names Sneha but no-one named Neha. I like it - assuming it is pronounced ney - hah.

Iamblossom · 02/03/2021 11:51

It gets pronounced Nay Ha but when I asked her she said it as Nehuh

SackofTurtles · 02/03/2021 11:54

It’s nice, but does it risk just getting said as ‘Nia’ I mean, assuming the ‘h’ sound is meant to be sounded)?

SillyOldMummy · 02/03/2021 12:01

I've known a Neha and it wasn't often mispronounced. I think it is a beautiful name but I'm probably influenced by the girl I used to know who was absolutely lovely and loads of fun.

New2020 · 02/03/2021 12:22

It's a very common Indian name, Neha...at least when I was growing up. I've never heard anyone mispronounce it but depends where you live I suppose and how diverse it is

Usernameornousername · 03/03/2021 17:14

Great, thanks for such useful info! Not sure about it yet tbh, will keep pondering over it

My daughter is called Neha and it's pronounced Naya in the UK

user1492757084 · 14/11/2025 08:37

If you like Neha, use it.

I think of Nays and Yeas as the names of the negative and affirmative votes on a proposal at a meeting.
"The Nays have it".
"The Yeas have the vote", the proposal is passed.

A Naya is also a horse or pony when vocal.

Lovely of you to insult my daughter

SwallowsandAmazonians · 16/11/2025 12:20

I like it. I was at school with a Neha and have met a couple since.
