Would this put you off a name?

Just about brought my husband around to my favourite name Magnus after failing to agree on an Ed- name.
Just googled and the full name backwards is the name of an American statewide food company- Lyons Magnus

Would this put you off?

On the one hand we aren’t in the states but on the other hand in today’s digital world will this be annoying if he wants to build an online presence (or move to the states!)?

I've never heard of Lyons Magnus and I'm not untravelled/uneducated, etc. I wouldn't worry. Give him a middle name if you feel this is a real issue.

ShalomToYouJackie · 27/02/2021 20:57

It wouldn't put me off.

Great name btw, we had the same name planned for DC1 but turns out we are having a girl so won't be using it just yet

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 27/02/2021 22:07

Magnus is lovely and no that wouldn't put me off, personally. He can always use his middle name too if it bothers him online or if he moves to the States.

Ikeameatballs · 27/02/2021 22:09

That wouldn’t bother me at all.

Elouera · 27/02/2021 22:14

Do you have a Norwegian/Scandi connection?

I'd associated it with Magners ciders rather than the US connection!

ZebraKid71 · 27/02/2021 22:21

I grew up in the States and wouldn't otice.

It might actually be a bonus in being able to be more anonymous online to be honest. I have a very unusual first and last name and hate that it is so easy to Google me!

SavoyCabbage · 27/02/2021 22:27

No it wouldn't.

Chilldonaldchill · 27/02/2021 22:30

Not at all.

partyatthepalace · 27/02/2021 22:32

Not a household name. Don’t worry c it.

Flymetothestars · 27/02/2021 23:32

Haha no it wouldn't put me off
I think you're overthinking
You could pick another name (that you don't like as much) and someone could end up making a website next year.
You've found a name you both like- seems like you're trying to find a problem that isn't there

Marcipex · 27/02/2021 23:49

Magnus is a great name.

DramaAlpaca · 27/02/2021 23:54

Not at all. I honestly think Magnus Lyons is an awesome name. Go for it!

Cressie2 · 01/03/2021 19:40

Magnus is a strong name. Love it.

KirstenBlest · 01/03/2021 19:57

Have you considered calling the baby Rory?

Cindie943811A · 01/03/2021 20:07

Wouldn’t put me off given the circumstances. Given the current situation in the US who knows what will still exist in 20 years etc. Forget about your google and go for what is a lovely strong name. Lucky boy to have such a distinguished name.

Champy87 · 02/03/2021 13:25

@KirstenBlest

Have you considered calling the baby Rory?
Grin this brightened up my day
movingmelly · 20/03/2021 02:17

Would avoid if you don't have a Scandi connection - and the name is actually pronounced Mah-Noose in Scandinavia..
