Are you wanting to use one name from your list as a middle name and one as a first name? I'll comment on each of your names in case it helps:

Rowan - very trendy and faddy. Rising fast and looks set to be in top 50 soon. Prefer this name for a girl (quite a few of the ones I know are girls) but either way find the name too confusing with fastest rising boy name RoMan which is on a huge upswing.
Iwan - not heard of this name but an interesting name with a lot of history. Ok but not my fav
Isaac - quite popular but very classic. A safe choice, I like it.
Trystan - love this name and also Tristan spelling. Really underused. Top choice
Gethin - great name! Outside the top 700 names and falling. Also love Griffin. Top choice

I like Gethin, Rowan and Isaac (in that order) - especially Gethin as you don't hear it very often. I like Tristan too but only spelt this more popular way. Iwan is not my taste - much prefer similar Ioan.

Joseph
Matthew
Henry

Oh and I'd consider using Isaac as a middle name -
Gethin Isaac W
Rowan Isaac W

Or if a single syllable middle name would flow better with your surname perhaps Rhys or Huw? (as you seem to like Welsh names).

Thank you, I'm not necessarily needing to use the names on the list, just needing a nice name that fits nicely.

Thank you for your suggestions. I'm Welsh. My other sons middle name is Rhys so that's out unfortunately. I also liked Osian (also a Welsh name, but don't think dh would let me)

A real mix of names here, from very popular fairly overdone (Isaac and Rowan), to some really lovely more interesting choices (like Trystan and Gethin)
I do like Isaac. Rowan is ok but I find too similar to Roman (which every z-lister is naming their child at the moment). It's definitely having a moment and I don't like shortening to Row.
I think I'd pick Gethin! Wish I'd thought of the name, it's familiar but rare. Perfect

Firebird83 · 25/02/2021 18:52

I like Iwan and Gethin best

DacwMamYnDwad · 25/02/2021 19:06

From your list, I guess you are in Wales or have a connection.
All the names are fine.

I don't know any Iwans under 50 - the versions of John tend to go in cycles - and I know lots of Gethins and Osians, all adults. If you are not living in Wales, Trystan will have his name written as Tristan a lot.

I'd probably drop Rowan from the list because names like Roman, Rowan, Reuben, Rory etc are so popular.

Isaac and Iwan as a middle name would go well with any of the other names. Osian would be a nice middle name.

I'd probably pick Gethin but bear in mind than people will say it as Geffun.

Rowan Tomos
Iwan Dafydd
Isaac Dylan
Trystan Tomos
Gethin Tomos
