my daughter's name is Chase and she's loves history and is sad that her name is so modern, is there any historical figures or history to the name Chase that would make her like her name

I’ve only ever heard of Chase as being a boys name, and then only in the US.

Almost every person I can find with the first name Chase is born after 1980. (And male.)

You could look into women with the last name Chase. Fanny DuBois Chase was a social reformer, Ilke Chase was a 1940s actress, Jessie Kalmbach Chase was a painter, Leah Chase was a chef... etc. Your daughter might like reading about them.

It can be a diminutive of Francesca or a variation on Keziah/ Cassia, which has the lovely meaning "cinnamon".

It's a modern name. And usually only for boys.

percheron67 · 25/02/2021 16:21

It is not a name - it is a verb i.e. to chase ..............

KindnessCrusader · 25/02/2021 16:30

@percheron67 did you mean to be so rude?! It IS a name-the op has just said it is her Daughter's name.
