Short one syllable boy names - please rate

We really like shorter boys names and have narrowed it down to five. Surname Hooper but with a C

I'd order these:

1. Rafe (love the name but not the spelling!)
2. Max
3. Ben (feels very nicknamey)
4. Gus (the fat mouse in Cinderella)
5. Seth (too 90s)

That being said - are you planning to use a full name? Ben and Gus especially I would think of as being nicknames rather than a "proper" name

1.Max - quite popular but a great classic name
2.Seth - nice, slightly quirkier and not overused

3.Rafe (may get misspelt as Ralph due to famous Fiennes)
4.Ben (less common as a standalone than Max so people may assume Benjamin/Benedict)
5.Gus (as above people may assume Angus/Magnus etc)

If I was going to choose:
Seth
Rafe

The rest are clearly nicknames/shortened versions of names where the longer name is fine in it's own right e.g.
Gus is Angus/Fergus/Augustus
Ben is Benjamin
Max is Maxwell/Maximilian

Just to warn you that my male friends with shortened versions of names say they always get people trying to lengthen their names when they want to write to them formally. Oddly my female friends don't get that. So it's everyday sexism in action.

Gus - I have one. He's just Gus and loves his name
Rafe - was also on my shortlist
Max - was on my shortlist
Seth - okay
Ben -:can't go wrong with Ben, but prefer the others

Seth is the only one I dislike. It's the 'th' sound at the end - sounds lispy and wet. But that's my own bugbear.

Gus is pretty unusual these days, and I like a lot.
Rafe is nice.
Max and Ben both solid names.

1 - Max
2 - Seth
3 - Gus
4 - Ben
5 - Rafe

Like Max & Ben. It's not on your list, but I like Tom as a short name in its own right, too.

Also like Gus, but not as the full name on BC.

Dislike Rafe.

Detest Seth - it's lispy and sort of slithery

I prefer Seth and Rafe - the others seem too nicknamey for me.

Max. The others seem incomplete.

I’d pick Seth, Rafe or Gus. Max is nice but too popular for my liking and not a fan of Ben.
