DP are at odds with naming our first DC. I really like Thomas, Samuel and Arthur, and while DP says he likes all three, he's pushing for something unusual. So far suggestions have included Gunnar, Hem, Pep, Dash, Tasman, and Arve. I'm not sure some of these are even names! The only one I'm vaguely considering is Arve (though this could be pregnancy hormones). Would really appreciate your reactions to Arve.

Arve is also on my list (pronounced to rhyme with the drink cava), I also like Gunnar, but not keen on any of your other suggestions, not yours or his. Go for Arve, it's a great strong name!

Unfortunately it’s conjuring up images of larvae for me Envy

Thank you so much everyone for your thoughts. I honestly had tears of laughter reading some of them.

Your husband can maybe have a vote on a middle name, he’s not ready to be allowed near first names.

..is your husband having some kind of breakdown?

Is your husband a 6 foot 2 scandie - or does he wish he was?!

Definitely wishes he was!!

He is pronouncing it 'arv' one syllable, not 'ar-vee' but given most people read the name as two syllables, and we definitely don't want to bestow a name that the child will constantly have to correct, then I think this is most definitely ruled out. Though thank you @StressedTired for explaining it should rhyme with cava to be Ar-va. Which I actually don't mind.

DH's latest suggestion is Salvatore..

I'll keep you updated

Salvatore you say? I see Mr Growingyou has now reinvented himself as a Latin lover, I hope he is trying on tight trousers and pruning his man cleavage as we speak. I like this man, I’m now imagining him as a post-watershed Mr Ben. Looking forward to the updates...

Tasman is a surname like Abel Tasman the explorer.

I wouldn't personally use it as a first name. Some of his names are ok if you have Scandi or Latin links. Others are just Confused Hmm

Samuel, Thomas and Arthur are lovely.

I suggest (if you are out of lockdown before the baby is born) that your DH goes to Starbucks and orders a drink under his choice of name. He might find that he prefers your choices to Hem and Dash after that.
