Alternatives to Jessica

So I like the shortenings Jess and Jessie but am not keen on Jessica. I don't like the "ica" ending. OH likes Jessica and the short versions - can anyone think of any alternatives? I have seen Jessamy and Jessamine and don't love either...

Jesslyn

GoryGilmore · 20/02/2021 21:08

Just call her Jess on her BC if that’s what you like. She’ll undoubtedly get called Jessie too.

noname55 · 20/02/2021 21:10

You could just go for Jessie? I know one that's Jessie on BC.
I don't like the "ica" of Jessica either.

Santatizer · 20/02/2021 21:11

@GoryGilmore I would but OH doesn't like using a shortened version of a name...

Jessa

Bluesername · 20/02/2021 21:11

Jessina? Or Jasmine with nickname Jas?

I don't like the 'sick' sound in Jessica.

PearlescentIridescent · 20/02/2021 21:12

Jessalyn or Jestina are the only 2 I have seen that I think are nice. I also agree you could just go with Jess :)

ZednotZee · 20/02/2021 21:12

Jennifer
Jenna
Gina
Georgia

All have a similar vibe and are slightly less common nowadays than Jessica

ZednotZee · 20/02/2021 21:12

Or how about Jacinta?

ZednotZee · 20/02/2021 21:14

Or even Jelina?

Diamondella · 20/02/2021 21:15

I think Jessica is beautiful name, but you could just go for Jess instead or Jessie

ZednotZee · 20/02/2021 21:15

Jocasta? Although admittedly this lends itself more to Cassie as a nn

TaraR2020 · 20/02/2021 21:23

Jessmina/ Jessimine
Jessiqua
Jessenia
Jessamy

dancemom · 20/02/2021 21:25

Definitely Jessa

Syrrup · 20/02/2021 21:27

Jessie is a given name in its own right, unrelated to Jessica. It's Celtic.

Bluesername · 20/02/2021 21:33

Francesca?

LittleTiger007 · 20/02/2021 21:37

Jessie or Jessa are both good stand alone names

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 20/02/2021 21:39

Francesca with Chessie or Chess as a shortening?

wanderedlonelyasacloud · 20/02/2021 21:40

Yep another vote for Jessa which is a name in its own right

cafedesreves · 20/02/2021 21:43

I was at school with a Jessamine

BallsToYouSue · 20/02/2021 21:46

I love Francesca with nn Chessie.

Or Jessie.

TheVanguardSix · 20/02/2021 21:46

Justina/Justine
Jemima
Genevieve

I love the name Jessica, fwiw.

Francesca can be shortened to Cheska.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 20/02/2021 21:49

A shame you don't like Jessamine (I love it - always sounds so elegant to me). I second pp suggestion of pretty Jessenia though - I think it's more popular in Hispanic/Latin American countries (where it tends to be pronounced Yeh -SEN -ee -ah) but I think it's still very useable here, even when pronounced with a "Jeh" sound.

Santatizer · 20/02/2021 21:55

Thanks everyone!
