Really struggling with boys names but I quite like Dexter and was wondering if there are any other boys names with an X I might like?

Thank you 😊

@Scarby9

Daxton Baxter (like the soup) Saxton (like the salt) Axle Caxton (like the printer) Jaxon (misspelling of Jackson) Jaxson (ditto) Lex (Luther) Paxton (like the stuffing) Rex Fox
This list is pushing the term ‘name’ quite far

Alexander/Alexis etc Max/Maxim/Maximus/Maximilian
Xavier
Felix
Axel

That’s about it. Everything else is made up. I really wouldn’t call your child Jaxon etc, it as a very downmarket vibe and isn’t likely to do him any favours.

Scarby9 · 21/02/2021 01:22

@partyatthepalace
And yet they are all boy's names.

Some are more recent American eg. Daxton, Jaxon Jaxson etc.

Some are classic English - Rex

Some come from Old English or French eg. Saxton (man of Saxony), Baxter (Baker)

Some from Latin eg Paxton (Peace town).

I love Alexis.

Felix

@Scarby9

I take your point, I didn't phrase as well as I should have -

What I meant was the Jaxon, Daxton type names have a downmarket 'made up' vibe, in both the US and UK. That's not a reason not to use them, but some people have a reaction to them, and it is worth thinking about that before going for it. Names like Paxton, Saxton, and Baxton will end up being thought of in the same way, because while they might be old words, but they are rarely if ever used as names.

There are some godawful names with x in them.

The ones I actually think are nice are:

Alexander (Alex, not Xander)
Max
Rex
Felix
Xavier

Already suggested, but lovely names. I prefer these to Dexter which is ok in an American or maybe Irish accent. In SE England, it is Daxtah, as it also would be in Australia for example. Do not like at all.

BallsToYouSue · 21/02/2021 18:51

Dextah I mean!
