Due in 6 weeks and we're really struggling with a name for a girl
We like classic, elegant, feminine names, think...
Juliet
Annabel
Elizabeth
Violet
Harriet
Vivienne
Cecilia
Love all the nicknames attached
Can't use any of the above as they're family/friends names. Want something of our own
Hubby suggested Penelope but I'm not sold on it.
What's your thoughts on Penelope?
And does anyone have any suggestions that are similar to above
Thanks xx

I love Polly ahh if my last DC would have been a girl I would definitely of had a little Polly
PurBal · 18/02/2021 22:11
Beatrice, Eleanor

Juliet is beautiful- just don’t shorten it.
Harriet also beautiful and I like “Harry” too
Annabell - love this too and again like the shortening of Anna. I would say Juliet is the most unique , I’ve hardly come across it at my children’s schools which is good.

So many nice names have been stolen from you! However -
Cassia, Miranda, Marianne, Diana, Julia, Frances, Lois, Margaret, Honor, Genevieve, Ines, Iris, Leonora, Serena, Philippa, Caroline, Georgina, Cordelia, Rosaria, Iona, Helena
I don’t mind Penelope, but I really don’t like Penny. Nell is quite nice.

Thank you everyone
Yes and a few you've mentioned also taken from close family & friends!
We seem to produce a lot of girls our side so not much left to chose from
Loving Josephine, Philippa & Margaret
I'm glad I have some challengers for Penelope as I just can't warm to it at all for some reason unfortunately
Bruce2 · 18/02/2021 22:52
Beatrice too!
NoSquirrels · 18/02/2021 23:02
Not keen on Penelope. I know it’s classic, but unfortunately to me it sounds less-than-classic.
I love Juliet & Josephine too. Also (already mentioned) Beatrice, Eleanor and Clementine.
How about
Constance
Rosalind
Esther

I have read, on here, that Penelope has the Spanish word for penis in it. That really put me off. Also, if you like Philippa, I know a lot of people use the shortening Pippa. Pippa is a name that doesn't travel well either, as it's rude in several languages. Just thought I'd warn you.
Edenember · 20/02/2021 16:58
I’m not keen on Penelope personally, more to do with length. Phoebe is another p name with a similar vibe which I much prefer.
Edenember · 20/02/2021 17:05
Other suggestions - Alice, Anna(bel), Beatrice, Cecily, Charlotte, Clara, Cordelia, Edwina, Eleanor/Eleonora, Eliza, Elois(a/e), Erica, Florence, Francesca, Freya, Greta, Hannah, Honor, Imogen, Isabeau, Jessica, Louisa, Lucinda, Marianne, Rowena, Sarah, Susannah, Tabitha, Thomasin.
IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/02/2021 00:36
Classic, elegant and feminine names imo.
Julia, Charlotte or Louisa instead of Juliet
Anna, Antonia, Isabel or Christabel instead of Annabel
Eleanor, Emmeline, or Laura/Lara instead of Elizabeth
Helena, Alexandra or Caroline instead of Harriet
Viola, Verity, Jessamine or Rosamund/Rosalind instead of Violet
Lilian, Genevieve or Evelina instead of Vivienne
Celia, Cordelia or Claudia instead of Cecilia
VenusClapTrap · 21/02/2021 09:32
I don’t really like Penelope. How about Artemis or Minerva?
