Just that. We adore french names as my grandfather was French. My sister has used his name for her DS so that’s not an option.

Our DD’s are Nina, Esme & Stella.

So far our list -

Sebsastian
Henry
Julian
Oscar

I have a friend with a Henry so that puts me off but I adore them all.

I love Oliver, thank you so much for suggesting this. We live in rural Scotland so I need something that will fit in here too!

It’s Henri (and I think Julien) in France

Samuel, Louis, Lucien, Charles, Gabriel, Jerome, Hugo are all spelled the same - I think you want that, or a name that is distinctly French eg Marcel, Pierre, if you have a slight variation on an English spelling you will be forever correcting it.

Lampzade · 16/02/2021 23:08

Lucian, Lucien

Sboncen · 17/02/2021 11:07

Sebsastian - Sébastien
Henry - Henri
Julian
Oscar

Others: André, Thomas, Richard, Guillaume, Guy, Jules, Paul, Louis, Patrick, Arthur, Hugo , Pascal, Romain, Blaise, Etienne, ...

I would consider whether you want a name whose correct French pronunciation is close to how a Scots person would pronounce it, or whether you're happy for it to be pronounced 'wrongly'.

Pinotpleasure · 17/02/2021 19:13

My French friend (who lives in Grenoble but originally from Metz) is called:

Fabrice
(pronounced Fabreece). I love it! His sons are called:

Joel (with two dots above the e). Sorry I can’t do this on my keyboard.

Valerian (again with an accent above the e). It’s the name of a plant or flower

Dimitri - is that even French?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/02/2021 19:39

Not very keen on Julian - it always sounds a bit wet to me, sorry. Oscar is quite trendy so not really my taste. Sebastian and Henry are lovely - Sebastian sounds the most "French" to me, but I slightly prefer the classic Henry.

Love the suggestions of Xavier, Marius, Maxime and Lucien, but to be honest Henry still works best with Stella, Esme and Nina imo - similar style and 2 syllable sound.

ShelleyI83 · 18/02/2021 21:51

Thank you all. I agree Henry goes best although there have been quite a few in our area recently. So difficult!
