I don't like Jonas. Makes me think of hillbilly farmhands. Or insufferable hipsters.

I like Jude, though

babyguffingtonstrikesagain · 15/02/2021 17:49

I like it. If you don't mind everyone under the sun calling him Joe, go for it!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 15/02/2021 17:53

Jonas is quite nice imo, maybe slightly trendy sounding, but short and simple with a more popular nn (Joe) if for some reason he dislikes it when older.

Similar choices: Caleb, Jared, Ezra, Elias, Tobias, Joel, Seth.

Why not Jonah? Fabulous name!

I really like Jonas.
Also like Jethro, Joel & Jed.

Amos
Otis
Tobias
Phineas
Silas

Makes me think of the jonas brothers

TempsPerdu · 15/02/2021 18:43

Not keen. It has a very strait-laced Puritanical feel to me - probably because the only one I’ve ever met was a very hardcore evangelical Christian.

I do quite like Jonah though.

Serin · 15/02/2021 19:27

Love it.

It's okay. LOVE Jonah though. Maybe Ezra?

TenThousandSpoons · 15/02/2021 19:43

Lovely

@BigBeachWales we have one in the family. Not close enough that using the similar sounding Jonas would be an issue but definitely couldn’t use Jonah.

@Marshmon this is my reservation too tbh but I do love it.

I don’t like it, but I’m not keen on overtly religious names generally.
