Lily and Annabeth as sibilings?

We are expecting a baby girl! We already have a Lily and my husband and i are thinking of naming our baby daughter Annabeth! We aren't sure about it though, so we need some opinions on it. What do you guys think?

Congratulations, Yes that’s a nice combo

Tamingofthehamster · 13/02/2021 19:17

Not sure about it tbh. Sounds a bit lispy.

SoCrimeaRiver · 13/02/2021 19:21

I like it, lovely but not a common name.

IHeartKingThistle · 13/02/2021 19:22

I only know Annabeth from Percy Jackson! Works fine I would say.

BallsToYouSue · 13/02/2021 19:23

Hmmmm Annabeth sounds a bit...oh God, what's the word..? Juvenile? Maybe a bit country and western? Also sounds like Anna-Beth, so people might assume double barrelled. It's also nearly Annabel but not, so not as unusual a sound as you might think, as she will get lumped in with the Annabels!

Maybe:

Emmeline
Clementine
Penelope
Adeline
Elizabeth (Betsy / Beth)
Elspeth
Rosanna

I'd go Anna or Beth with Lily. Or have one as a middle name.

CodenameVillanelle · 13/02/2021 19:24

I don't like it. Annabelle is nice.

35andThriving · 13/02/2021 19:24

I like it. Robert Webb has a younger half-sister called Annabeth....Random fact! Grin

mangoandraspberries · 13/02/2021 19:30

Love Lily. Annabeth doesn’t really “go” with it, if that matters to you. To me, Lily is classic but modern, whereas Annabeth is one of those double barrelled names that are quite hard to say. I do quite like Beth or Anna by themselves though.

ladygindiva · 13/02/2021 19:31

I knew a Hanabeth, which I prefer. But I like it. Go for it x

danascully96 · 13/02/2021 19:31

Anna or Beth with Lily. Or what about Marianne?

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/02/2021 19:33

Gorgeous name, well known but uncommon. Perfect. I really love it

CeeceeBloomingdale · 13/02/2021 19:35

No from me, Anna or Beth would go. Anna middle name Beth perhaps so you can call her it all as a pet name?

partyatthepalace · 13/02/2021 19:49

I like Annabeth

Although if you are bothered about matching I think Annabel goes better with Lily as Lily is such a girly name.

Ladsladslads · 13/02/2021 19:53

I think I prefer it as Anna Beth, two separate first names. A bit American maybe but gives options for the future

FlamingGreatGalaahs · 13/02/2021 19:59

Sounds really American.
Not keen sorry.

Quercus3 · 13/02/2021 20:17

I think it's a nice combo 🙂

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/02/2021 20:19

Name Sounding American isn’t in itself a bad thing

morninglive · 13/02/2021 20:22

Not keen on annabeth

KirstenBlest · 13/02/2021 20:30

Annabel is nicer than Annabeth. Lily and Anna are good.
Annabeth is a bit much. Call her Anna Beth instead and use Annabeth as a nn.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/02/2021 20:40

Call her Anna Beth instead and use Annabeth as a nn
That makes no sense same name with a space? AnnaBeth isn’t nn for Anna Beth it’s the same name with a pause

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/02/2021 21:10

Annabeth does sound very American to me as pp mentioned (which is obviously fine if you are in the US!). Since Lily is popular but fairly classic sounding, I'd just use the similar style Anna instead (Anna Elizabeth?). Lily and Anna make a lovely sibset.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/02/2021 21:18

Would you say a name sounds too Scottish/Italian/French as a criticism.

Synchrony · 13/02/2021 21:25

I think it's fine with Lily. I also don't think it matters that much about siblings matching. If my sibling's name didn't particularly match mine it wouldn't affect my life at all now we're adults and I can't imagine it mattering much as children either. If you love it, use it!

Candleabra · 13/02/2021 21:26

I like it.
