Which name do you prefer?
Holly, Sofia or Elsa?

Sophia and Elsa just make me think of Disney Princesses!

Lemonsyellow · 13/02/2021 19:03

Elsa is my favourite. I like Sophia but spelled like that. Not keen on Holly.

35andThriving · 13/02/2021 19:05

I like both Holly and Elsa.

35andThriving · 13/02/2021 19:16

Elsa is much rarer than the other too, as well.

Starsandglitter · 13/02/2021 19:35

Do you have young children? I think you would need to seriously consider the frozen link using Elsa. Any other names on the list?

DotDotDotDotDot · 13/02/2021 19:35

Elsa or Holly are both nice, although the Frozen link would put me off using Elsa I think. Sofia/Sophia is massively overused where I live so it just seems boring when I hear it now.

partyatthepalace · 13/02/2021 19:45

Like Sophia and Elsa, but Elsa a bit less common so go I’d for that. If you do go for Sophia I would spell it UK standard ph or you will forever be correcting.

Holly is meh.

ladygindiva · 13/02/2021 19:48

Elsa is lovely but makes me think of frozen. What about Ailsa? I like that too. Also like Sofia/ Sophia.

RubiksCubey · 13/02/2021 20:05

Yeah the frozen link with Elsa is the only thing that puts me off, but I really love the name. Or Elsie I like too.
I like Sofia, with the F spelling. Weirdly I don't like Sophie and wouldn't like it to be shortened to soph/sof, although I do like fia/Fifi as a nickname!

Elsa is gorgeous, despite the Frozen film (previous generation will have thought of the Lion instead, so I wouldn't say pop culture matters that much). Sofia is very popular and will have spelling issues in the UK. Holly is just a bit "blah" for me. So my pick is Elsa!

lambo88 · 13/02/2021 20:16

Definitely Elsa...this was on our little girl list xx

IsabellaMozzarella · 13/02/2021 20:17

I used to work with kids and worked with a Sophia. Beautiful name, but really hard to say over and over. Ends up sounding like sphere.

Quercus3 · 13/02/2021 20:20

Holly

cautiouscovidity · 13/02/2021 20:33

Holly - seems most common for babies born in December. It's a bit bland and I wouldn't use it for a baby born in any other month.

Elsa - absolutely no (Frozen link). I LOVE Elsie though.

Sofia - Less common spelling. She'd spend all her life correcting people who automatically spell it 'Sophia'

babynamelover · 13/02/2021 20:47

I love Holly. I named my teddy it as a child.
After watching "Handmaid's tale" I loved it again alongside Hannah.

Lemonsyellow · 13/02/2021 20:56

Elsa is a million times better than Elsie. They’re opposites. Elsa is glamorous and international. Elsie is downtrodden servant.

Starsandglitter · 13/02/2021 20:57

Elsie is really sweet. I could see them making a frozen 3 and Disney Elsa hanging around for a long time. It’s a lovely name but I think you’d just have to be sure, it’s like the people who desperately regret naming their child Alexa. (Worse link though tbf) Sofia/Sophia are extremely popular when you add them together with Sophie in the mix. Ophelia nn fifi? (Although again certain connotations with that name but it’s becoming more commonly used)
Edie
Nancy
Sienna
Just throwing some random ones at you there!

Lalliella · 13/02/2021 23:21

Elsa is beautiful

LivLavender · 14/02/2021 00:47

Elsa is a great name. Many girls are named Aurora, I don't see why Elsa shouldn't be used. The character is also much cooler than other princesses.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/02/2021 00:56

Elsa

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 14/02/2021 00:56

I like Holly. It is pretty.

Really like Sophia or Sophie with those spellings.

Ellada19 · 14/02/2021 01:24

Holly for sure! It’s pretty, it’s unique but familiar, it’s great!

There are a lot of Sofia’s. It has been in the top 10 names every year for 10 years, and usually top 3.

Elsa to me is just too Frozen.

I should add, I may be biased because I have a 9 year old & 7 year old so I had to play “the Elsa song” one million times.
Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/02/2021 01:56

Since when is Holly unique. Granted there not everywhere but I certainly wouldn't call it "Unique" Confused

sophiet882 · 14/02/2021 01:58

since you say you like Elsie, i would go with that. Smile

beautiful name!
