Fern or Penelope (Nell)?

Our little girl is due in a couple of months and we are really struggling to settle on a name for her. Nothing seems to be clicking, but so far we've come up with either:

Fern Alice
or
Penelope 'Nell' Fern

We'd be happy to go with Penny as a nickname but she has a cousin named Poppy and I'm just worried that its a bit too similar. So we'd prob go with Nell. Surname is short and one syllable - think Yates/Jones/Croft etc

Thoughts?

love penelope but it's over used now, fern is unique and a nice name

Fern is nice, but on a similar theme Hazel and Heather are softer names.

I know of a Fenella, nn Nella, which is beautiful on her. Fern has real Dawn connotations for me, Penelope nn Nell lovely I think

Loved Penelope for my dd but she came out all red and squishy whereas my imagination of a penelope was all tall and willowey so it never got chosen! 😀 penny would have been my preferred NN

Love Penelope, nn Nell if I were to have a daughter tomorrow that is what she would be named

They are both nice

Fern Alice is lovely.

Faith is also nice
