Will & Penny also sounds good if they decide they like those shortenings.

Does anyone know when Penelope first appeared in the UK top 100? I know William was around in 1900

They sound good together.

I like them, but can’t stand Penny - so wet - never known a Penelope not shortened to Penny so that would put me off - though I suppose you could impose Nell from the off.

I'm not that keen on Penelope - I personally don't like the sound but I also think a very classic, timeless name like William pairs better with similar style names imo - Elizabeth, Charlotte, Alice, Sarah, Helena, Louisa etc.

I really do but something just reminds me of thunder birds too much.

I was thinking Bill and Penny.... great names on their own, together maybe not. Especially if your surname is Ledger or Banks.

Penelope was my first choice girls name -nn was going to be Nel (had boys).
Will and Nel is not great but Will and Penny or indeed William and Penelope are fab.
