Name changed for this as combined with other posts could be outing!

Husband is French, I'm British. Planning to start TTC very soon.
We like short names that would work in both languages or that wouldn't be too difficult to pronounce to native speakers of either language - some examples of our favourites:

Girls: Anya, Ayla, Chloe, Eloise, Maya, Noa, Ines, Elodie
Boys: Aiden, Ethan, Oliver/Olivier, Raphael, Theo

We also love the name Elowen for a girl or Élouan (Breton version) for a boy but probably as middle names.

Does anyone have any suggestions of similar names/names you like if you have similar taste?

Thanks Smile

Elowen is pronounce El Owen.It might be tricky to get right if you are French.

Ethan and Theo have 'th' in, French people might struggle with the sound. Theo will be said as Tayo

Second pp suggestion of Maxim, Louis and Celine. Girls name I like are Sylvie (although I understand it's unfashionable in France), Nina, Helene/Elena, Coralie, Juliette (and Corisande but that's a bit out there!) Boys name I love are Henri/Henry, Matheo, Adam, Alexandre/Alexander, Marius and Samuel.

Hi @franglaisnames I am the same but in reverse! Baby girl due in a month, I’m French and my husband is British.
I’ve gone absolutely nuts for names lately and still haven’t found my gem, so sharing my shortlist here which has the same criteria; easily pronounceable in both languages, to delight both sides of the family:
Esme
Juliet
Eliza
Alice
Lucy
Marianne
Zoe
Hazel
Alexandra

Let me know what you go for at the end :)

LouRidley · 02/02/2021 17:38

I should add some I love and that have been sadly vetoed:
Cecily
Vivien
Autumn
Louise

My favourite french name is Fleur. It's top of my list!
