Do you ‘love’ your boys name?

Due a boy in ten weeks and super excited. Before we knew the sex we talked a lot about names and fixed on a girl name quite quickly and I absolutely loved it. I felt excited to use it and tell people.
Things got tricker when we found out he was a boy as I just find boys names so ‘blah’. It’s seems from this board that lots of people have also struggled with boys names. I want something that is not crazy or eyebrow raising but equally not too traditional and (in my opinion) boring. There are hundreds of girls names in this category but so few boys ones. When people ask for suggestions of this type of name the same ones are always suggested.
Anyway, we have picked a name and I do really like it, as does DH. We have been calling him by his name at home for weeks and have gotten used to it. I just can’t shake this feeling that I like it but don’t ‘love’ it.

Is this normal? Will I love it when he arrives and it become associated with my little boy? Or should I be rethinking?

Did you ‘love’ the name you picked or have picked for your boy?

Yes I do. I have 2 boys. With ds1 we found a name we both loved and it was much harder with ds2 as we didn’t agree on anything and went for a name we both didn’t love but didn’t mind. Quite quickly after ds2 was born I loved his name and still do because it is him. He’s 2 now and I adore his name just as much as ds1’s.

Have 4 boys and love all their names ( the only one I might change is the eldest as it is so common but I love them all and they really suit them if that makes sense : James, Lachlan, Rory and Archie ( youngest is years older than the Prince btw) . In response to your question OP the answer is RORY. . Everybody loves it ,I know there are variations in spelling like Ruairi, but in reality everyone is going to go with Rory. It has no bad connotations, is easy to spell and pronounce and means red king - what could be better,. Well known enough but has never hit the top 10.. Good luck with the birth.

My sons name is Casper and I love it so much. There are no other Caspers around that we know of and the name really suits him. Also get a lot of compliments on his name and never once has he been subjected to any ghost jokes.

Yes, I love both my sons names! My first has a classic but very popular name, but it just suits him soooo perfectly. My second has a very unusual name and I love it. I've never met another one yet and he is 4Smile

Absolutely love my children’s names.

Don’t settle for something you don’t love.
