Charlotte Maya or Maya Charlotte?

Hello

Expecting our first DD soon. We love both names equally but can't decide which order we like best. Maya will be pronounced "MAY-a". Our surname begins with B and is two syllables.

I like both but prefer Charlotte. I like the May-ah pronunciation, but be aware that it has 2 current pronunciations so she will get both.

I have a Maya pronounced like you want. We don't have tons of trouble with pronunciation. Everyone just knows her as May-a. I wouldn't have called her it if I read Mumsnet then as people are obsessed about names being said wrong. I still love it now and we've never met another on real life. Charlotte and Maya have a really different feel. Which is your favourite? No one really knows middle names so I would go for your favourite as first name rather then flow etc.

Well, do you want a daughter called Charlotte or a daughter called Maya? The middle name will pale into insignificance and most people won't know what it is.

If you're pronouncing it to rhyme with "player", that's going to be a pain to live with, so I'd choose Charlotte.

I prefer Maya Charlotte as I don’t really like the name Charlotte but that’s just personal preference.

Charlotte Maya is very pretty, but I like Charlotte May even more.
All the Mayas I know are called My-ah.

Charlotte as I pronounce Maya, My-a. Both beautiful names though so either will be lovely.

Charlotte is a fine name. classic. timeless. elegant.
maya is not in the same class at all, sounds trying to be trendy, will date badly. also the difficulty of pronunciation.

Maya is more unusual :) Both are lovely but I vote for Maya Charlotte!

There are two pronunciations. The op is choosing to use the more unusual of the two . I don't think anyone is confused, but they are saying that it may get pronounced the more obvious way, (MY-a, not MAY-a). HTH!
