If it was an option, then Alfred (nn Alfie) is lovely - makes me think of King Alfred "the Great", a wonderful namesake to have.
Not keen on the cutesy Alfie as a given name or the pudding-like George, sorry. But if I had to, I'd pick George (as it's very classic and shouldn't date).
