Archie after H&M?

Baby due in April, my husband’s favourite name due to his grandpa having that name, I do like the name just do not want the royal comments every time his name is mentioned.

Anyone had an Archie since M&H???

I never associate it with them to be honest!

Flymetothestars · 23/01/2021 20:37

Yes I'd definitely still use it

It's not like a name like Boris or Elvis that is extremely rare so very associated with one person

Archie was already top 20 when H&M chose it. Lovely name

LochJessMonster · 23/01/2021 20:54

I don’t associate it with H&M at all

sleepingfox · 23/01/2021 20:57

I’d still use it. I know 3 born since M&H’s and I’ve never made the connection. I think it’s a popular enough name that it avoids any obvious association.

Amammai · 23/01/2021 21:07

Lovely name. I wouldn’t have even remembered that’s what their son is called. I would definitely use it if you like it.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 23/01/2021 21:08

It's too popular to just be associated with the Sussex's - there are lots of Archie's about (it also seems to be a popular name for dogs where I live as well as kids!) But I personally wouldn't use it as a first name as I find it a bit too "cute" - although it would make a lovely middle name imo to honour Grandpa.

ParisJeTAime · 23/01/2021 21:11

Yes, I would still use it. I think it's a great name.

Even George, Charlotte and Louis I would still use. I don't know that many children who share any of the royal baby names! I know more Reubens and Noahs than Georges and Louis!

bourbonne · 23/01/2021 21:11

It's such a common name, nobody will care. You're just as likely to get "oh, my cousin named her baby boy that".

AuntieStella · 23/01/2021 21:12

My strongest association is Balamory

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 23/01/2021 21:21

no

No

It took me a while to figure out who you meant by M&H 😂 so based on that I think you're fine.

Seriously, does anyone outside of mumsnet pay the royals that much notice when a bank holiday isn't involved?

If you love Archie, go for it!

partyatthepalace · 23/01/2021 22:18

Wouldn’t even think of that.

SnowFields · 23/01/2021 22:20

I wouldn’t use it anyway. If you are worrying about the connection with them then there will be plenty of others who will pick it up which you’ll probably find annoying. It’s awful wishing you’d given your child a different name. I’d opt for something else, especially since he will probably be at school with another Archie anyway.

Highlights12 · 23/01/2021 22:28

I thought you were talking about the shop h&m and was wondering what that has in connection with the name Archie. I'd use it, as a pp said its not like using the name Boris.

mummytolittledragons · 23/01/2021 22:54

I think it's a lovely name. The only reason I wouldn't use it is because every other boy I come across seems to be called Archie . Nothing to do with the former royals.

OppsUpsSide · 23/01/2021 23:25

When you said H&M my first thought was, what’s the link between a clothes shop and Archie? Blush
I think it’s his grandpa’s name and you should use it.
