I find Elowen very pretty and feminine

daisypond · 17/01/2021 23:54

Xanthe

indie92 · 18/01/2021 00:00

Elowen is beautiful

DramaAlpaca · 18/01/2021 02:42

Lowenna is my favourite.

Calmondeck · 18/01/2021 04:47

Xanthe is a great choice. I’m intrigued by Zennor (haven’t seen this before)... how is it pronounced? Zenn-or, Ze-nor? I imagine it would be nicknamed to Zen, which could be sweet

Bluesername · 18/01/2021 10:10

Xanthe

JemimaTiggywinkle · 18/01/2021 10:16

Lowenna or Elowen are my favourites.

Xanthe always reminds me of Zante (Greek island of ill repute).

Zennor to me is definitely a Cornish place name, rather than a person’s name.

MercyBodle · 18/01/2021 10:47

I love Elowen and Xanthe. I like Lowenna.

Emmylou292 · 18/01/2021 12:28

I like Xanthe and Elowen.
I also like Lowenna.

I have just realised that Elowen is pronounced differently to how I was saying it in my head though!

Frankiefarr · 18/01/2021 14:31

Thanks everyone. Zennor is name of OH Cornish grandmother. Elowen would be pronounced El-OH-en i think they pronounce it differently in the States

Xanthe - lovely
Elowen- second favourite
Lowenna - you’ll get a lot of Louenna which sounds like a name from the American Deep South
Zennor- sounds like a healthcare or shower product

Chunkymenrock · 18/01/2021 18:15

Lowenna. I know one and there is never a problem with pronunciation!

Speminalium · 18/01/2021 18:17

Keep your lovely list and meet her, try the names on for size and see what suits . No hurry. She's a lucky baby with such beautiful options!

VenusClapTrap · 18/01/2021 18:29

Xanthe

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 18/01/2021 19:13

Elowen Rose is beautiful ☺️

Firebird83 · 18/01/2021 22:43

I actually know a Zennor-Rose!

I like Lowenna best.

WildCherryBlossom · 18/01/2021 23:07

I like Xanthe and Elowen best. I want to like Zennor. Have you ever read the book Zennor in Darkness by Helen Dunmore? Wonderful book, set in Zennor. I just don't love it as a person's name.

Mollymalone123 · 18/01/2021 23:16

Elowen is lovely but v popular where I am from( and it’s not wales) 😂

florascotia2 · 19/01/2021 15:57

OP How are you pronouncing Xanthe?
There was a thread here a while ago, which had helpful comments from a Greek-speaker.
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3457467-xanthe-pronunciation

Some people were saying (Greek-style) ux-an-thee/ks-an-thee, others were saying (Anglicised) Zan-THEE.

Meanwhile, people in some parts of Europe say Ksan-tay.

I like Lowenna and also Morwenna (though that is not on your list). And Endelient/Endellion, another Cornish name.

Wannabangbang · 19/01/2021 15:57

Xanthe is beautiful, the best name of them all :)

ParisJeTAime · 19/01/2021 16:19

Xanthe or Elowen. I think of the two, I prefer Xanthe, as, although you don't meet many Elowens, there are a fair few Eleanor, Ella, Ellie, Ellis, Elara, Elora, Elliot, Elle, Eliza...

GU24Mum · 19/01/2021 16:23

I really like Lowenna!

Not keen on Zennor, sorry. To me, Elowen sounds like it's a set of initials (L.O.N).
