Do you ever hear a name that is an instant - 'yes, love it'.

My latest is Clarissa.

Like Clarissa Knows Best the TV show? Melissa Joan Hart from Sabrina was in it.

BraeburnPlace · 10/01/2021 09:02

I actually don't know that show, but one of the main characters in the film 'Love Sarah' is Clarissa.

Whilst pregnant my 'instant love' in the middle of the night was 'Jacob', couldn't wait until morning to tell everyone, only to wake and when fully conscious realise it rhymed ridiculously with our surname.😂

I think I did in the beginning but after I've search for a while I feel overloaded on names so none have that effect on me now lol.

I really like Clarissa but sadly partner doesn't.

Crockof · 10/01/2021 09:32

Love Clarissa, I feel in love with Claudia and Lucia, put off both by how others pronounced them.

KirstenBlest · 10/01/2021 10:38

Clarissa is nice but it will be Clarrie, which I don't like.

EdgeOfACoin · 10/01/2021 15:29

Love Clarissa with Rissa as a possible nickname.

Could never use it, unfortunately (doesn't go with surname.)

Clarissa Explains It All I think you mean. Loved that show! Her style and bedroom were ultimate 90's goals.

For an instant love name mine is Maya (and I loved it waaaay before it became so popular!)

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 10/01/2021 16:46

I prefer Larissa over Clarissa - for some reason that one letter makes a difference to me!

BraeburnPlace · 10/01/2021 17:12

Back to 'instant love' names...any others?

I heard a colleague talk recently about Ida - instant love

Also whilst researching our family tree - Theadora.

So far we have:
Clarissa
Maya
Ida
Theadora

Jacob

Persephone and Thorbien

Mine was Daniel. We didn't want to find out the sex until our baby was born. But we'd decided on Daniel for a boy from when I was 7 months pregnant. Easy decision, we were 100% sure straight away because we loved the name. It was the only one we liked or wanted.
Struggled to choose a girls name though

ParisJeTAime · 10/01/2021 18:51

Clarissa makes me think of Dickson-Wright!

Theodora is one I love at the moment. Dh would never go for it though and anyway, I'm not even pregnant, but still. I think it's lovely.

LouiseTrees · 10/01/2021 19:23

@Luckyelephant1 yep that’s what I meant. Loved it.

ParisJeTAime · 10/01/2021 20:00

OP, I hadn't read your update and seen that Theodora is one of your loves too! That's really funny. Total coincidence, I was just thinking today that if we ever have another girl I'd love to call her that.

Changedname81 · 11/01/2021 16:32

The name I fell in love with the first time I heard it was Elowen (however not when it’s pronounced the way it’s meant to be sadly - prefer Elo - wen but the stress is on the second syllable - el Oh wen.)

I also love Posy, Amos and Gus

BraeburnPlace · 11/01/2021 17:23

Much love for Theadora out there...and gorgeous shortened...I'd go for Dora rather than Thea.

Where's the Louvre at first sight for Persephone and Thorbien? I'm adding Serendipity, which I first heard as a name on Neighbours and anyways wanted to name a baby it

Twizbe · 25/01/2021 17:14

Mine is Timna. I was watching location once and the wife of the couple was called Timna. I loved it. I did suggest it for DD but husband wasn't keen.

CaffiSaliMali · 25/01/2021 20:24

I know a Clarissa who just goes by Clarissa, no nickname. I also know a Larissa. Both lovely names.

My instant love names are Eira, Eirlys, Eirys, Aveline and Evangeline.

PompomDahlia · 25/01/2021 22:46

Theodora is gorgeous. I love Maya and Ida too. Hope to use Maya one day! It is very popular though if that puts you off. Also Ada if you like Ida?

Prefer Larissa to Clarissa. Clarissa makes me think of Claire, which is a bit wet IMO.

LouRidley · 29/01/2021 18:05

Larissa is lovely
Clarissa is silence of the Lambs
