Theanna for a girl?

Hello,

I was wondering what people’s’ opinions were on Theanna, pronounced ‘THEE-ANNA’. Apparently it’s means ‘gracious’, according to Google!

Haven’t heard it before but came across someone with that name and thought it was so lovely and different.

Thanks xx

Makes me think of Teanna Trump..

Theanna doesn't look or sound
pretty to me.

DueMay2021 · 09/01/2021 09:57

I really like Anna but I'm unsure about Theanna 🤔 looks to me like it's a typo and should say the Anna but if you like it it's not offensive in anyway and you're never going to please everyone

daisypond · 09/01/2021 10:01

It seems a bit made up - a mixture of Thea and Anna? That said, it’s OK. I quite like it.

maddsclairelouise · 09/01/2021 10:06

I really like it! I think it is very pretty sounding and unique!

hiptobeasquare · 09/01/2021 10:07

I really don’t like it. Anna on its own is much nicer.

passthemustard · 09/01/2021 10:17

Tiana is better IMO

GlitterBiscuits · 09/01/2021 10:29

It's not good. Anna on its own is lovely

ChrissyPlummer · 09/01/2021 10:30

Looks like a spelling mistake TBH.

mogtheexcellent · 09/01/2021 10:38

Theano is a lovely name and I think it would be easier for others to spell and pronounce.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 09/01/2021 10:39

Its really not good, sorry.

emmathedilemma · 09/01/2021 11:10

It sounds made up. Thea and Anna are perfectly nice names on their own.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/01/2021 12:01

It does sound a bit invented - but then anna is added onto a few other names so I suppose it's hardly a new thing! I still prefer the original Thea/Theia or Anna/Ana, personally.

Chilldonaldchill · 09/01/2021 12:03

I really don't like it. It reminds me of Deanna - I knew a few of them growing up in the 70s and really didn't like them.
Thea is stunning, Anna is beautiful.
I do like Theoni as well but I think Thea is the best of those names.

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/01/2021 12:21

Sounds like she’s the only Anna, lol - The Anna. Like The Donald.... I would find something else...

galaxy9 · 09/01/2021 14:09

I feel like they would constantly get called Tiana by mistake

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 09/01/2021 16:06

I don't like it. It seems made up and is a bit confusing. I like Thea, and Anna is nice. But I don't like this hybrid of the two.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 09/01/2021 16:08

Not for me although I like both Thea and Anna

JemimaTiggywinkle · 09/01/2021 16:19

It sounds a little bit like Sienna with a lisp.

What about Thea, or Rosanna?

Emeraldshamrock · 09/01/2021 16:21

Seems very similar to Tiana would probably have the same pronunciation.

VenusClapTrap · 09/01/2021 16:43

Dislike

user1493494961 · 09/01/2021 16:51

Dislike, prefer Thea or Anna.

BackforGood · 09/01/2021 17:08

I don't like it myself.

The very fact that you have had to tell everybody in your OP, how you want it pronounced, is never a good start with a name - it is setting up a person for 90 years of having their name said wrong.

I looked at in , and in my head said it with a 'th' sound at the beginning, (like 'think'), not the 'voiced' sound at the start of Thee.

NellietheNumpty · 09/01/2021 17:11

Not sure about it. What about Tian?

partyatthepalace · 09/01/2021 20:37

It looks a bit made up and it's hard to know how to say it

How about Rosanna, Fenella, Susannah, Cassia, Estella

(I would avoid Tiana personally as it also feels made up to me and princessy)

BiBabbles · 09/01/2021 21:53

Anna, from Channah, means grace or favour which is where I'm guessing that meaning is coming from.

Théana, from Thea, means goddess, though I'm only getting that through this site where users give it as a possibility to a modern name.

I've no strong feelings one way or the other, but The Anna sounds weird to me and, depending on where you are, it may end up fee-anna.
