Seem to see a lot more of these then girls names! Why are girls names much easier!?!

So we find out next week boy or girl, but I have a strong feeling it's a boy. If it is a girl we have a few names we like. Just can't settle on any boys names, what are peoples thoughts on the list we have so far. Just none stand out to me :(

Tommy
Ted
Hughie/Hugo/Hugh
Douglas

That's all we have! My husband likes quite traditional names whereas I like something a little different x

Sonny
Hunter
Charlie
Miles/Milo
Theo

Also this isn’t what you were asking but I follow a girl on Instagram who has just called her baby girl Tommy. I was taken aback at first but I actually think it’s lovely.

I’ve been struggling with boys names too

Here is our short list:
Miles
Jesse
Tommy
Gabriel

@galaxy9

Thank you for your suggestions!! We actually have three close friends with the bottom three names and my husband doesn't like top two I already suggested!! It's sooo hard! I love Tommy because both our grandfathers are called Tommy but I'm just not sure if it's the one....

@Lovemylittlebear
Gabriel's lovely!! I know someone who just called their son that x

I think you can find a name that matches both your criteria. Traditional yet very underused these days:

Tristan, Wilfred, Eric, Peter, Nathaniel, Seth, Laurence, Christopher (Kit), Angus, Austin, Blake

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 07/01/2021 11:19

I love Hugh - simple, traditional and underused now (and if you use this on the BC, you can still call him the more trendy Hugo/Hughie or even Huggie when he's little!)

Tommy is lovely as a nn for Thomas and Ted a nice nn for Edward. Douglas is also nice, but feels very Scottish to me (are you in Scotland?)

Other suggestions; Magnus (nn Gus?), Fraser, Alastair, Alexander (nn Xan?), Xavier (nn Zev?), Maximilian or Maxwell (nn Max?), Nicholas (nn Nico or Cole?)

AnxiousAnnie86 · 07/01/2021 11:28

@IamnotwhouthinkIam Douglas is my grandpas middle name we are all Scottish but live in England, I think I'm leaning towards Hugh/hughie as our surname begins with H and has a nice ring too it...

I love Gus but it's our cats name 😂

Alexander is my husbands name :)

I like Douglas, Dougie for short?
Douglas Tommy maybe, to honour the grandfathers?

maddsclairelouise · 07/01/2021 11:58

Dougie would be such a cute nickname for Douglas!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 07/01/2021 12:13

Dougie is what I love! My grandpa is Thomas Douglas, so thay would be sweet x

I like Ted, Hugh, Hugo and Douglas very much. You have some great names there. Of those, only Hugo is quite popular, but not so popular that I'd be put off.
I also really like Tom and Thomas, and would put one of those on the bc even if you were going to call him Tommy.

AnxiousAnnie86 · 07/01/2021 13:35

@MercyBodle I think it would be Thomas Douglas on BC As thays my grandpas full name but we would call him Tommy, I just want to hear the name and go yep that's what I love!! That's what we have done with our possible girls names, we love Mallory and Darcey for a girl x

Douglas and Hugh are really great and underused names. Love them.

The others are more nicknames so I wouldn't choose them.

Firebird83 · 07/01/2021 17:48

I love Hugh, Douglas and Thomas. All great names! Ted is a bit trendy for me.

DueMay2021 · 07/01/2021 17:57

I really like Ted but my OH doesn't he doesn't like anything apart from Axel which I do not like we've been through 3 books and looked on loads of websites I'm pretty sure our boy will just be called baby forever. I didn't think it would be this tough

Peachbubble · 07/01/2021 17:58

How about Robin, Austin, Edmund, Fraser.

Wowcherarestalkingme · 07/01/2021 18:01

I love Douglas, that was on our list but we went with Albert instead

Standrewsschool · 07/01/2021 18:10

Prefer Edward, nn Teddy, rather than Teddy,

Also prefer Thomas to Tommy.

Love Douglas and Hugh.

Other Scottish names
Harris
Duncan
Andrew
Hamish
Scott
Angus
