Congratulations! Beautiful name. I think pairing it with a longer name like Elizabeth, Meredith, Catherine works well.

ProudAuntie76 · 02/01/2021 14:12

It’s really really common so only choose it if you are ok with having 3-5 in your dd’s class! Plus similar Eva/Evie etc.

Do NOT choose Ava Rose, Ava May/Mae/Mae, Ava Grace etc as they are also ridiculously common. Maybe go with a classic like Ava Catherine, Ava Elizabeth, or even Ava Michelle, Ava Patricia etc as those names are hardly used now.

ColumbiaAGroupie · 02/01/2021 14:14

I really like the name Ava, it's lovely.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/01/2021 14:18

Ava Michelle is gorgeous.

june2007 · 02/01/2021 14:21

Too many Ava, Eve, Evas, Evies at the moment, really very common. Not a bad name but not very exciting at the moment.

Chilldonaldchill · 02/01/2021 14:52

Ava is very pretty. Popular but pretty.
I like it with:
Ava Delilah
Ava Rebecca
Ava Saskia
Ava Catherine
Ava Abigail
Ava Lucy
Ava Madeleine

MsTSwift · 02/01/2021 14:54

Congratulations! It’s very popular. If that bothers you I would re think. My first choice name for my first was the most popular name that year so glad I realised just in time and didn’t use it.

Yennefer19 · 02/01/2021 15:01

It’s a nice name. I think it needs a long middle name as the first name is short.

Ava Charlotte
Ava Isabelle
Ava Hermione
Ava Clementine

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 02/01/2021 17:52

Congrats on your new arrival. I adore the name Ava - it's a beautiful, simple, elegant palindrome name with a glam image (I still think of Ava Gardner). Unfortunately it is also extremely popular and will likely date (since you rarely meet an Ava older than teens and it's popularity was celeb led).

Alternatives would be more classic feeling names (but still similar palindromes) like Anna - which is top 100 but very international and doesn't feel overused imo; or Eve - which is way outside the top 100 and not overly trendy unlike popular Evie, Evelyn etc. There is also Ada, but that is part of the retro/vintage name revival and is really increasing in popularity (it's the "new" Ava).

ILoveShula · 02/01/2021 18:39

Congratulations.
I don't like the name Ava.

PlantPotting · 02/01/2021 20:03

Love Ava and never met one

Ava Clementine
Ava Margaret

babynamelover · 02/01/2021 21:22

What about the longer Aveline it's so pretty 💕

autumnkate · 02/01/2021 21:53

It is pretty but... so many Avas!

ZadieZadie · 02/01/2021 21:59

My name was as fashionable in the 80s as Ava is today, and I don't love it.

At school I was always known as Name Initial, and now you can date me to within about 5 years.

I wish my parents had been a bit more original.

jldy2020 · 02/01/2021 22:01

Lovely name! Congratulations!

ellenpartridge · 02/01/2021 22:03

It's a lovely name and there really won't be 5 in a class 🤣 there are so many more names in use these days than when we were young, so even when names are quite high up the charts the actual number of children with the name is never as high as it was with all the Sarahs, Laura's, Rachel's etc when were at school.

There are 4 in my little niece’s class. And another 12 in the school! She also goes to dancing where there are loads of them. To make it worse we’ve now got another little Ava on my side of the family! I’m literally surrounded by them.
finallychangedmyusername · 02/01/2021 22:12

Ava is a good name, but as many have said there are a lot of little Avas around.

Agree that a longer middle works. I'd probably go with something more unusual. Suggestions below:

Ava Calliope
Ava Eloise
Ava Seraphina
Ava Felicity
Ava Persephone

Ava Calliope is really lovely.

NameChange84 · 02/01/2021 22:24

Congratulations on your brand new daughter! It’s a lovely name but there are so many of them! When I was teaching in primary schools in recent years, in early years there were about 3 in each class. Between Ava, Evie and Evelyn it was really hard to keep up! It’s the name of my best friend’s daughter and she says she never would have called her it if she’d known how popular it would be. There are three in her dd’s year and more at all of her hobbies too so she’s always known as “Ava Jones” rather than just Ava. She’s my goddaughter too and a family member has had an Ava recently too and I’ve a sneaking suspicion I’m going to be asked to be her Godmum too so that will be two goddaughters called Ava Confused.

All the boys are Theodore/Theo/Ted/Teddy!

doctorhamster · 02/01/2021 22:33

Congratulations Flowers
It's a pretty name but don't use it if you want her to be the only one in her class. I like Ava Catherine or Ava Elizabeth

Bluesername · 02/01/2021 22:37

Ava is a lovely name. I especially like the suggestions above of Ava Saskia, Ava Rebecca and Ava Clementine.

Ava Cordelia
Ava Poppy
Ava Romilly
Ava Jessamine
Ava Marianne
Ava Sophia
Ava Selina
Ava Leonie
Ava Juliette
Ava Meredith
Ava Lily
Ava Coralie

DramaAlpaca · 03/01/2021 03:25

Ava is beautiful, a sweet, simple, short, elegant name - which is no doubt why it's been popular over the last few years. Popularity doesn't bother me, it's more important to choose a name you really love.

I like Ava Catherine very much.

For a shorter middle name I'd suggest Ava Joy or Ava Jean, both kind of retro and quirky.

MrsApplepants · 03/01/2021 03:31

It’s a nice name, but Ava and variations of Ava are incredibly popular. It might be nicer for your DD not to have the same name as do many other girls.

MrsApplepants · 03/01/2021 03:31

Do = so
