Really love one syllable names. What do you think of Ren?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Titsinknicks · 21/12/2020 19:06

Surely Wren?

Littlefish · 21/12/2020 19:06

Wren is a nicer spelling, but yes, I like it.

Dyrne · 21/12/2020 19:07

As in Ren and Stimpy?

Or Kylo Ren?

Squeejit · 21/12/2020 19:07

Wren is lovely.

shivermetimbers77 · 21/12/2020 19:08

I think Ren is lovely

lockdown3 · 21/12/2020 19:08

Undecided between Wren / Ren, Ren means Japanese waterlily

OP posts:
Diverseduvet · 21/12/2020 19:08

It's a lovely Japanese name. Have you considered Wren? It just seems a bit more complete then Ren.

LightDrizzle · 21/12/2020 19:09

You must mean Wren, as in the bird? It’s nice. I wouldn’t like Ren.

LightDrizzle · 21/12/2020 19:09

Unless you have Japanese heritage I’d go for Wren.

GooGoo52 · 21/12/2020 19:11

Ren makes me think of Ren & Stimpy, but Wren is beautiful.

SleepingStandingUp · 21/12/2020 19:18

Ren says Ren and Stumpy

Wren says bird.

Most people won't have a working knowledge of Japanese

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/12/2020 19:23

I love short, unusual names on both sexes (Like Zev, Lev, Xan, Asa, Zia, Ida etc) so I like Ren. But for a girl I'd probably use the (slightly more common in this country) Wren spelling. I think of Ren looks a touch masculine on it's own or more of a nn (for something like Morwenna, Serena etc).

IckleBear · 21/12/2020 20:06

I like Ren for a boy,
Wren for a girl.

Bearcub01 · 21/12/2020 20:20

I know of one little boy, spelled Rhen.

I do like Wren but I just think about wren kitchens every time I hear it.

ForestNymph · 21/12/2020 20:21

Kylo Ren

VenusClapTrap · 21/12/2020 21:51

I know men called Ren and Rem, and a couple of little girls called Wren, so I assumed your post was about a name for a boy until I read it.

SirSamuelVimes · 21/12/2020 21:52

Would just make me think you wanted Kylo buy weren't quite brave / stupid enough

mogtheexcellent · 21/12/2020 21:54

What does stimpy mean in japanese though? Grin

I also love short names but this is a no for me. Its unoffensive though so use it if you want. Your DCs generation wont get the ren and stimpy connection.

Palavah · 21/12/2020 21:54

I knew an Adrienne known as Ren.
I would also think of Kylo Ren..

DrDetriment · 21/12/2020 21:55

Isn't that from star wars?

melisande99 · 21/12/2020 22:54

There was a (girl) Ren on Neighbours back in the 90s... I think it was short for Serenity or Serendipity. Doesn't appeal to me. Wren is nicer.

myrtleWilson · 21/12/2020 23:07

I wanted Ren for a boy when I was pregnant - loved it! Birthing produced a now almost 18yr old girl so Ren never happened.... Do it!

Inspirationpending · 21/12/2020 23:20

Ren is a skincare brand
Wren is lovely though

SionnachRua · 22/12/2020 10:49

Kylo Ren.

percheron67 · 22/12/2020 10:58

Makes me think of Rennies.
