Also like Sunday and Meadow

I like Monroe. Definitely has potential.
Story is awful.
Never been that keen on Aurora. Never met any either. Just a bit too sleeping beauty/twee for me.
Capri might be ok if you have an Italian surname. But she might just be nicknamed Sun.

PinGwyn · 21/12/2020 00:51

Aurora is the nicest of those but not a name i would use personally - I know 2. One with a speech impediment who introduced herself as "Ohlola" and the other goes by Rory to avoid the Disney Princess association.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 21/12/2020 00:53

I love them all with the exception of Sunday. Its not awful just not to my personal taste.
I would assume Monroe was yours or your mums maiden name or that you were a huge Marilyn Monroe fan which is certainly no bad association.

charlottebella · 21/12/2020 00:54

Are they adults or children? I have nothing to go off as I’ve never met someone with that name but the speech thing does worry me.

Are you being serious?

willowtree81 · 21/12/2020 01:08

Aurora and Monroe are really nice.

charlottebella · 21/12/2020 01:13

I quite like Navy too.

OP posts:
Miarara · 21/12/2020 01:14

I like Sunday or Meadow.
I think Capri has too many other associations like capri pants, capri sun and sounds more like a nickname

DramaAlpaca · 21/12/2020 01:17

We clearly don't have the same taste so I'll leave it there.

clpsmum · 21/12/2020 01:19

I love story and monroe

TheBeesKnee · 21/12/2020 01:22

They are all very individual names. I think you should go and meet people and introduce yourself as one of those names, see how that goes.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 21/12/2020 01:22

Why is it on here. If your kids aren't called something along the lines of
Ava Olivia.Lily Ella. Noah Oliver Arthur Theo. Someone always pipes up with "Are you being serious"

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/12/2020 02:35

Aurora is a fairly popular name - lovely, if slightly Disney princess. I can see the attraction of Story and Meadow, although I'd personally only use them in the midde name spot. Not keen on Monroe or Sunday and I really dislike the sound of Capri for some reason (I also think of Capri pants rather than the place, so it seems odd as a name to me).

charlottebella · 21/12/2020 03:00

Do you know many Aurora’s? It’s going down in popularity according to this years stats so I’m not that concerned. I just don’t want there to be like 5 people in her school with her name.

OP posts:
Blacktothepink · 21/12/2020 03:03

I like Tuesday and Autumn

mathanxiety · 21/12/2020 03:07

The problem with assuming you have to go way off piste when choosing a name is that you may well find your child ends up in Reception with the only other child bearing that name in the UK. Equally, you might find your Olivia is the only one in the school.

Do you honestly like any of the names on your list? Or are you just listing names you believe will be one-of-a-kind for the sake of that?

charlottebella · 21/12/2020 03:23

No I really do like them all, i think I’m not going to worry about popularity and just go with what I love🙃.

OP posts:
MercyBodle · 21/12/2020 03:26

I like Sunday, Meadow and Capri. Aurora is fine, just not really my taste.
I don't mind Story or Monroe as middle names.

garlictwist · 21/12/2020 03:29

Aurora is the nicest. The others are weird. Capri makes me think of Capri sun.

JamesCracknelsBugle · 21/12/2020 03:51

This thread reminds me of this scene.

Sunday and Story are interesting.
Monroe is a lovely sound but freaks me out a bit because Marilyn is the obvious connection and that's quite highly sexualised. Maybe Munroe or Munro would keep the name but escape the whole name association thing?

LadyLazaruss · 21/12/2020 04:12

Haha this.

Don't bother, OP. If it's not in the top 50 UK names, you'll be ripped apart.

I like them all. Favourite is Monroe.

FallingStar21 · 21/12/2020 05:03

Monroe makes me think immediately of Marilyn Monroe, so would expect her looks to match the name.

Capri = capri trousers
Aurora = city in Texas and Disney character (well better than Tinkerbell I suppose).

mathanxiety · 21/12/2020 06:13

I don't think the names are too bad, except for Capri. It would lend itself to nicknames that would be annoying.
