I like daisy a lot but it's very popular.

Delphine is really nice!

Mally2020 · 18/12/2020 01:23

Love both options but prefer daisy. Do not listen to above suggestions of delphine unless you want your child to be compared to and bullied bc of belle delphine

Daphne by a country mile.

Daisy is a nickname and not a particularly nice one at that.

mangothoughts · 18/12/2020 01:39

Daphne is just awful sorry
Would have to go with Daisy although always think of Daisy the cow. Delphie is pretty?

August20 · 18/12/2020 01:42

Daphne.

Daisy is very sweet but I would only use it as a nickname.

Daphne! Scooby Doo is a great namesake and I’ve also recently been watching Kate Jackson’s Dark Shadows, so Daphne always seems fit for a glamorous woman.

Daisy is not my favorite — it sounds like a name that belongs to an airhead m, as The Great Gatsby will attest. My apologies if that’s too rude :(

Similarly glamorous names:
Susannah nn “Suki”
Violet
Stella
Cecily (means “blind,” though)

My favorite names (if this matters at all):
Laura
Lily
Julia
Anna nn “Annie”
Charlotte
Gwyneth

Oh, and Delphine is nice! It means “dolphin,” but you have the nn “Della” if that suits you.

I have a daphne and have had so many positive comments on her name. If it helps, she is turning out to be an incredible human being... clever, kind, just wonderful and her name suits her perfectly.

Thanks everyone! Really helpful.
I do love Daisy but agree it is a bit overused.
Daphne seems to be a bit of a marmite name which surprises me as it has that popular ee sound.
We also like Violet so adding that to the mix.

Daphne is an absolutely beautiful name. It would be on our list but my DH isn't keen. We also live in the north west, where it would sound very much like 'Daphne Moon' from Frasier...

I really dislike Daisy as a name - overly girly and a bit twee, along the same lines as Poppy. Also reminds me of cows. If you want a floral name, I'd go for Iris or Rose / Rosa.

Daphne definitely. There are Daisys everywhere (or is it Daisies)

Love Daphne as a name
