Middle names...help!

Haven’t found out what we are having...if we are having a boy then we have the name incl middle name sorted.
If it’s a little girl, we have the first name sorted but middle name is proving tricky. I know you don’t have to have a middle name but I like to. It needs to be something short I think.
Suggestions??

Difficult to say without knowing the first name. I could suggest Beth (for example) but if the first name is Elizabeth...

calimommy · 16/12/2020 06:26

That's not much to go on. What is the first name? Do you want traditional? Modern? Etc?? What is the last name? Long? short? 🤷‍♀️ what boys names have you picked?

mumandcub · 16/12/2020 06:27

Alannah will be the first name

I think a two syllable middle name flows much better than a short name that sounds just like a filler. But a middle name starting with a vowel sound or an H are difficult to say!

Alannah rose
Alannah Lou
Alannah Mae

I’m drawing tk the shorter middle names with alannah being quite long, any sentimental names in the family? Xx

Do you have any granny/aunt/sister names? We've always used the middle name as a nod to someone because although it's lovely for them to flow, the middle name is name-fluff tbh. For instance my first two DS have a grandfather middle name and my third DS we used my DH name. For this last baby (DD) we are (mostly set on) using my name as the middle name. I feel a bit odd about it because I'm not used to putting myself first but neither of the granny's names suited and we weren't going to choose one of my SILs 😂. Also I do feel a bit of "well I do all the work for these children so why not?!" 😂

Parker231 · 16/12/2020 15:06

We have used family names for middle names. Is there a grandparent or even great grandparent name you like.

mumandcub · 16/12/2020 15:22

My sons middle name is his dads names so we would normally do but two of our grandparents are:
Mary or Bridget
I can’t say either flow very well. The kids grandparents again just don’t flow.
I like Nina as this is the part of Ireland my Nan was born in although spelt Neneagh but for the purposes of a name keeping it as Nina spelling. Although DH told me this morning Nina isn’t a name Hmm odd.

I’d always use a family name as a middle name. Or the name of somebody special to you. Especially if the child
Has their fathers surname, it is nice to have a name
From the mother’s family in there.

Sandcastles09 · 16/12/2020 17:09

Alannah Grace is lovely!
Or...
Alannah Brooke
Alannah Rae
Alannah Joy
Alannah Wren
Alannah Rose
Alannah Daisy
Alannah Raine

EileenGC · 16/12/2020 17:22

Alannah Eve
Alannah Grace
Alannah Rose
Alannah May
Alannah Marie (this would be my favourite).

I think a short, 1/2 syllable middle name would work best. Or something much longer than Alannah, but maybe it would be too long if you say your surname is already long?

Alannah Gabriella
Alannah Meredith
Alannah Marion
Alannah Vivienne
Alannah Theodora
