Yay or nay?

My DH really likes it and I’m a bit indifferent. I don’t dislike it but it’s probably not my favourite.

Nope just no. Sounds like a creature from Lord of the Rings!

It’s Welsh, isn’t it? I was at school with a Morven, it’s definitely a real name and I quite like it.

Letsrunabath · 14/12/2020 18:56

I think it’s a lovely name. Friends teenage daughter has it and she’s a bright charming girl.

It’s Scottish as far as I know. Definitely a real name.

I know a Morvah. Village in west penwith.
Both nice names.

Offtothedogs · 14/12/2020 19:05

I love it, although there's a very disturbing novel about a psychopath called Morven Callar which would put me off Shock

Wallywobbles · 14/12/2020 19:06

Very similar to snot in French. Sorry.

mvmvmvmv · 14/12/2020 19:11

I know a Morven. She is lovely. I really don't like the name though!!

But names are very personal, and if you like it then you should use it.

florascotia2 · 14/12/2020 19:11

It means 'big mountain /hill' in Gaelic.

It's the name of two very scenic areas. One is in Caithness, the other in Argyll.

Don't accept less than...

YoniAndGuy · 14/12/2020 19:19

Yes Morven Callar would put me off a bit. It's quite strong though.

JamieFrasersSwingingKilt · 14/12/2020 19:22

Starts the same as 'Morbid'. It's a no from me.

Plsv87 · 14/12/2020 19:26

Love it

CaffiSaliMali · 14/12/2020 19:27

I love Morven, sadly for me it's Scottish rather than Welsh as I'm not Scottish enough to use it.

I also like Morgana and Morwenna.

Unicant · 14/12/2020 19:28

yes its gorgeous! I love the sound. And its unusual but still a traditional name.

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 14/12/2020 19:29

Sugar free version of Movicol?

Thankfully I’m 100% Scottish 😊

I went to school with a boy called Morven, in Scotland. I love it. He was a really nice boy too.

Minikievs · 14/12/2020 19:47

It's a no from me. Only because one of my close friends has a mum called Morven so it makes me think of middle aged women. Although I'm now the middle aged one, so maybe she's now elderly Shock

Minikievs · 14/12/2020 19:48

It makes me think of Lady Macbeth for some reason too

Peakedin1997 · 14/12/2020 19:58

I like it but definitely think of morvern callar

JanewaysBun · 15/12/2020 14:01

Love love

StickTheKettleOnAlice · 15/12/2020 14:03

I misread it and thought you said Mervin! It is a nay from me on Morvern, Mervin, Melvin or any other similar name like this...sorry Blush

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 15/12/2020 14:07

I grew up with one. She laughed at me at nursery school for dropping my apple. I never forgave her...
