I'd really love your help! Our DD arrive a few days ago and we still can't agree on a name. My favourites are Leonora and Marina. DH likes Alice. Im worried Alice is too like one of our names (Alex) plus it just doesn't excite me. DH thinks Leonora isn't that elegant and she'll just end up being Leo. Open to other suggestions but looking for something elegant, classic, strong and feminine but not too frilly. Other names we have considered but aren't quite right include Genevieve, Clementine, Beatrice and Constance.

My favourite name at the moment is Florence. I love it. Sadly don't think I'll ever use it as it doesn't go with surname.

Also huge congratulations on your baby girl!

Marina is beautiful! So elegant and classy (and Shakespearean too) If you want an "everyday" sort of nickname to use with it, she could be Marnie.

There's nothing wrong with Alice or Leonora, but they aren't as nice as Marina imo (II'm not keen on the "Nora" sound and Alice is quite popular, although I wouldn't worry about the Alex thing if it's a parents name not a siblings).

Other names you might like:

I love Alice but not with Alex! Some lovely ideas on this thread. I especially like Margaret, Elizabeth and Edith.

Poppyolive90 · 13/12/2020 20:08

I love Marina and it isn’t heard too often.

Barmyfarmy · 13/12/2020 20:10

Lovely names on this thread! I'd have to veto Constance though, it's a very stern name for a young baby.

What about Alicia instead of Alice? I think Alice is fine with Alex. I had a friend called Nicky who's son was Nicholas and no one ever commented on it.

Charleyhorses · 13/12/2020 20:11

Dd (13) has a friend called Margot. Ffabulously strong I think!
