Boys Name

So my husband loves the name Beauden/Boden.

The only problem is (i hate to say it) i'm posh and he isn't and i'm worried we will be judged for having a 'chavvy' name.

I actually really like the sound of it but i'm worried about the judgement.

I'm looking for an unusual but not crazy boys name. We have a very easy to use surname.

HELP!

I know of one Boden, a boy who is 10 - I must admit when I first heard it I just thought of the shop (!) and thought it was a strange choice. I personally don't like it / wouldn't use it.

Some suggestions:
Amos
Cooper
Roman
Willem
Ellis
Tobias
Drake
Jared
Harris
Parker
Wilson
Heath

You could do a lot worse than Boden, but I certainly wouldn’t spell it Beauden!

Boden is a shop and as for "Beauden", what if the poor child isn't good-looking? Think again

calimommy · 13/12/2020 07:09

Beauden is naff beyond description -apologies but it is the truth. I would read that name and think someone was trying too hard.

I would use Boden though as it's a lovely name. 👍

resm · 13/12/2020 08:42

Boden is an Irish surname to me (see O’Buadain). What about similar sounding Bradan or Brendan?

Growingyou · 13/12/2020 09:28

Beau is a very normal name for boys in Australia (where I'm from). It has no connotations of being chavvy. Of course, that doesn't help in the UK. But just for you to know Beau is a regular, masculine name, and I know two great guys with this name.

Whatsyourflava · 13/12/2020 09:57

Tristan
Laurence
Spencer

Fit your brief I think. All unusual and way outside top 100

Superstardjs · 13/12/2020 10:01

If you named your child Beauden I would not be so rude as to comment unkindly. What I thought in my head would be quite a different matter I'm afraid.

MercyBodle · 13/12/2020 12:18

Boden or Beau are okay, not Beauden.

Who calls themselves posh lol

Boden does sound chav though

MikeUniformMike · 13/12/2020 16:21

Bowden?

Beauden is a definite No. It's awful.
Boden is too closely associated with a brand of clothing.

Finisterre might be a bit more cool.

MikeUniformMike · 13/12/2020 17:02

It sound a bit like Bogan.

LittleTiger007 · 13/12/2020 17:20

Boden is nice ... but then I love baby Boden clothes! So there’s that link
Hudson,
Tobias,
Malachi,
Gabriel,
Caleb,
Pascoe,
Rowan,
Reuben,

I dont think Boden is chavy at all?
It's the vibe you give off to be 'chavy' not the name in my opinion

user1493494961 · 13/12/2020 20:37

I would say it's chavvy, seeing as you've mentioned it.

Kanaloa · 13/12/2020 21:00

I don’t like the name, but I wouldn’t worry about being posh/chavvy. Having a certain name doesn’t make you posh or chavvy. It’s also my experience that really classy people don’t judge others based on their names or backgrounds.

diddlediddle · 13/12/2020 22:32

I feel like this post might be a joke... no chance someone "posh" would consider calling their child "beauden". That's And obviously Boden is a shop.

Were you thinking of Beau, Bodie, or Brodie?

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 13/12/2020 22:36

Boden to me is a clothing brand. It's too strong an association IMO...

BackforGood · 13/12/2020 22:46

Beauden - just no
Boden - what about considering Waitrose or Harrods or Next?

My suggestion is to use a boy's name.

Firebird83 · 13/12/2020 23:28

It’s a clothing brand, and also means “ground” in German!

How about Bowen? My DS goes to nursery with one.

YoniAndGuy · 14/12/2020 22:49

Oh please don't!

It's beyond awful. Just no.

How about Bruno?

YoniAndGuy · 14/12/2020 22:50

It's just such a strong association with the clothing brand... it would be like a middle-class version of calling your child Armani or Chardonnay. Cringe.
