Struggling with girls names - DD coming next week!

DD due next week. I've had a few threads about names. DH and I have really struggled to find a name we both love that we think goes with our surname. Here is our list of potential names. Would love to know what you think or whether you have any other suggestions.

Middle name and surname will be Elizabeth Rodgers

Amy - currently our go-to but neither totally love it
Robin/Robyn - Love this but Robyn Rodgers - is it nice or awful?
Laura - Love this too but Laura Rodgers is a bit of a mouthful to say outloud
Jennifer - Like Amy, its nice enough. We both prefer Yennefer but we are not that cool
Kathryn -One of DHs favourites after Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek - I am less convinced and not a fan of Kath as a nick name
Jasmine - One of my favourites but DH less convinced.

We are trying to avoid names that sound too "dainty" as DH and I are both pretty tall so she is likely to be tall too!

Lucy Elizabeth is a very fine combination, and Lucy Rodgers sounds fab.

Alexandra
Felicity
Jemima
Daniella
Hayley
Michaela

Robyn - too Christmassy? although lovely name

Lorna or Lauren instead of Laura?

Other names:
Harriet
Felicity
Gemma
Christina
Georgina

OnlyToWin · 11/12/2020 19:08

I would call her Holly! Congratulations - what a lovely Christmas you will have.

Fingermoose · 11/12/2020 19:09

Sophie
Chloe
Megan

Or could you have Elizabeth as the first name with nn Lizzie, Lily or Betty?

formerbabe · 11/12/2020 19:11

Amy or Jennifer work best imo with your middle name and surname.

Robyn Rodgers sounds a bit silly imo.

Jasmine Elizabeth doesn't work

Laura and Kathryn are a bit dull

hashbrownsandwich · 11/12/2020 19:11

My name is Laura and I have a stupidly long surname. I don't think Laura Rodgers sounds bad at all.

How about Lara instead?

FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue · 11/12/2020 19:11

Imogen
Lydia
Celia

hashbrownsandwich · 11/12/2020 19:12

Actually OP if she arrives on the 17th we will share a birthday so you must name her Laura 🤣

FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue · 11/12/2020 19:12

Don't worry about how it sounds with the middle name, almost no-one ever hears it.

OnlyToWin · 11/12/2020 19:12

Ignore my Holly suggestion - it sounds too piratey with your surname.

Kayjay2018 · 11/12/2020 19:13

@Waffleblock congratulations on the imminent arrival of your DD. Might be a bit biased, I have a DD 7months old called Genevieve, I think that goes with your middle and surname. We had thought about Jennifer, decided last minute we preferred Genevieve

OnlyToWin · 11/12/2020 19:13

I think Rebecca Rodgers sounds like a really strong name.

SquashSoup · 11/12/2020 19:16

Amy - currently our go-to but neither totally love it
Solid nice name, goes with the middle and surname. I bet you end up going with it. DS has a name that was a compromise but it totally suits him and I grew to love it.

Robin/Robyn - Love this but Robyn Rodgers - is it nice or awful?
Awful

Laura - Love this too but Laura Rodgers is a bit of a mouthful to say outloud
Yes, it doesn't flow

Jennifer - Like Amy, its nice enough. We both prefer Yennefer but we are not that cool
Jennifer is nice and some good options for shortened versions. Yennefer is awful.

Kathryn -One of DHs favourites after Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek - I am less convinced and not a fan of Kath as a nick name
Good role model for sure. I do agree about Kath though

Jasmine - One of my favourites but DH less convinced.
Quite dainty imo, which you said you wanted to avoid

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 11/12/2020 19:16

I think Laura Rodgers has too many ‘ro’ sounds.

Robyn Rodgers is fine though somehow!

Not a fan of Amy or Jennifer. They’re a bit 80’s.

Jasmine is lovely!

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 11/12/2020 19:18

I don’t think of Jasmine as a dainty name at all. The Jasmine I know is tall and striking. I think it’s a strong name.

BabyLlamaZen · 11/12/2020 19:24

Robin is a great name. Some People love alliterative names and tbh, I wouldn't rule it out even if you don't.

BabyLlamaZen · 11/12/2020 19:25

@OnlyToWin

Ignore my Holly suggestion - it sounds too piratey with your surname.
😂
PerdidathePostwoman · 11/12/2020 19:25

How about

Josephine Elizabeth Rodgers
Frances Elizabeth Rodgers
Saskia Elizabeth Rodgers
Roberta Elizabeth Rodgers
Cora Elizabeth Rodgers
Martha Elizabeth Rodgers
Winifred Elizabeth Rodgers (Winnie)
Matilda Elizabeth Rodgers

2bazookas · 11/12/2020 19:30

I'm quite taken with Robyn or another name beginning R

Rosalind Rodgers

Rose Rodgers

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 11/12/2020 19:31

I think we may not have the same taste. The Kathryns and the Lauras are big standard 80’s / 90’s boring and dated to me. So you may not like my suggestions.

Names in the same vein:

Sarah
Emma
Claire
Sally
Rachel
Kate
Hannah
Helen
Rebecca
Michelle
Dare I say Karen
Joanna
Jane
Lorna
Louise
Christine

Other names that are strong and not dainty but less dated:

Mara
Esther
Nancy
Alice
Laurel
Astrid
Lana
Sienna
Verity
Elise
Olive
India
Gaia
Beatrix
Florence
Eleanor

Cam2020 · 11/12/2020 19:35

What about Kat, Kate or Katie as a nickname rather than Kath?

ILikeStrongTea · 11/12/2020 19:40

I think Laura Rodgers is fine.

WednesdayAllTheWay · 11/12/2020 19:42

What about:
Yasmin Rodgers
Natalie Rodgers
Sophie Rodgers
Ellie-May Rodgers
Thea Rodgers
Nina Rodgers
Betsy Rodgers

I think alliteration at the end of first name and start of last name (eg Cora Rodgers) doesn't work so well (ruled out lots of names for mine for this reason!)
