What do you think of these names for a girl? Leaning towards arielle as it’s shorter and has the nickname ‘Elle’ which I love!! But I’m not completely sure, what do you think of the name? Other names on my shortlist are Hattie, Piper and Emmie. Thanks xx

Live Hattie as a nickname for Harriet and quite like emmie but I'm not keen on the others sorry

It makes me think of Arielle Vandenberg. She’s a bit loud. Why not just the name Elle if you like it?

Hattie (jacques -although not her real name)
Piper - not keen
Emmie - sounds like a pet name for Emma rather than a name in it’s own right iyswim.

Hattie as nn for Harriet is fab. Not keen on the others.

I’ve got a friend with a young teenaged Arielle, first time I heard it I was a bit Hmm but it really does suit her. She’s got French family, I don’t know if it’s more usual there?

I expect plenty of people will say that Ariella reminds them of areola. Arielle is ok. I find it a bit bland and samey with lots of other similar names right now but it's perfectly ok.

Meant to add that Hattie and Emmie are nicknames. I really would not want to be a grown woman with those as my first name, with no longer option. They're very twee, Emmie in particular is very nothingy really as it could be short for anything. Piper I'm not keen on but at least it's a full name.

I prefer Arielle of the two, but it does look a little like a misspelling of Ariel.

I prefer the similar but more classic Arabella, or Ariana; but Arielle is still nicer than Hattie, Piper and Emmie imo - they seem very nicknamey or trendy (but Emmie as a nn for Emilia or Emmeline is lovely).

I think Arielle sounds a bit better than Ariella. Even my phone thinks the latter is a spelling error Blush Maybe Ariel might be a better option because of potential issues with correctly spelling Arielle? But I guess, it also depends how you’d like to pronounce the name.

Hattie as a standalone name is beautiful - it doesn't have to be a nickname for Harriet

I like it. It was the first name I thought of when thinking of names but partner didn't like it unfortunately.
